He seemed very funny and up-beat. He writes humourous poems, as you can tell by the title of the book 'Centrally Heated Knickers'. He writes a lot about his childhood, and in this book his choice of subjects are really strange. He writes about cool buggies, in 'Boogy Woogy Buggy', saucepans, in 'Woolly Saucepan?', cow fashion in a poem called 'Cow Shoes' and even, in every book, 'granma's hands' (but not literally!). You might say the things he writes about are weird, but the poems are really imaginative and very funny. They are also quite different to everyday poetry, for example in 'Some Advice For You If You're Ever Thinking Of Walking Accross a Very Old Iron Bridge' the title is longer than the poem itself! I didn't really like poetry all that much but this book changed my mind. Its really funny and even though its written mainly for 7 to 11 year olds like me, it made my mum and my 17 year old sister laugh. It convinced me to read more of his books, such as 'You Can't Catch Me', and his 'Book of very silly poems', both as equally weird and funny as this one. Once I picked up this book, I truly couldn't put it down-I really recommend it to anyone with a sense of humour, as it's guaranteed to make you laugh.
