perfect for mother toddlers groups
I often read this to the pre school children and they absolutely adore it. Everybody joins in. What a brilliant way to get kids to learn to love books.

Emperor's new clothes
This book is amazingly overrated. The 'story' (what little there is of it) is extremely negative, instilling a fear of animals into children. Plus, we should care about animals, not 'hunt' them. Why not make children love nature? The repetition of the words becomes very tedious and amounts to a banal, mundane, empty experience. We were given this book but none of my children - who love reading and being read to - were remotely interested. br / br /Emperor's new clothes.

Disappointed
I have mixed feelings about this book. I bought this for my two yr old after reading all the wonderful reviews and having glanced at it in the library thought it was a wonderful book myself. However, I dont enjoy reading it at all. I dont like the repetition and end up omitting most of the text and just going through the pictures with my daughter. I love the illustrations however, they are so different from your usual toddler books. Maybe I will get to like it better with time! br /PS. My daughter is excited about her new book and asks me to read it often but does not seem to understand the joke at the end - may be she is too young for it.

Stumble Trip, Stumble Trip
My grandaughter (age 4) asks me again and again to read this book to her. The 'sound' words are so descriptive and she loves the 'Swishy Swashy' and the 'Squelch Squerch' but gets quite nervous when we come to 'Stumble Trip'. She is then overcome by apprehension and expectation as we reach the cave, before giggling all the way back to the safety of the house and hiding under the bedclothes! Although it does frighten her a little, it is in a good way, and she can't wait for the run back home. Grandad thinks we have gone mad when he comes home and finds us tiptoeing through the dining room to peer into the conservatory to see if the bear is hiding there!
