Specialised, but brilliantThe reason for this books low rating is its title. Someone wanting to learn how to draw cars really should look elsewhere. While there is a section on perspective, drawing and rendering techniques, it is very brief and feels like something of an afterthought.
What you get instead is an in-depth look at the car design industry, and input from some of the very best designers working today. Much of it is subjective, with various people submitting their favourite current cars, and a list of the ten 'most influential concept cars of all time', but you get the sense that the contributors really do know what they are talking about. Interiors and concept cars get their own sections, and there is also a useful timeline of design trends, masquerading as a list of landmark designs.
Aside from a few photographs crossing the centre-line, the book is beautifully presented. The very readable text is quite informative, and some brilliant sketches and renderings sit alongside the many photographs.
This book will not appeal to everyone and will frustrate those who expect a drawing guide, but for the people to whom I suspect it is aimed, those considering a career in transport design, there is only one word for it: perfect.

Nearly uselessThe book contains little factual, practical information about designing anything. There are about ten pages dealing with perspective and rendering but this is a matter of drawing skills not design skills. What is missing are examples of the principles of design or how to make something look as good as it can without affecting its functionality or manufacturability.
Much of the book is padding. The list of the top-fifty designs is a subjective irrelevance. The commentaries by the leading lights of car design are also hot air.
There is a book about car design to be written and this book is not that, despite the first rate production quality and the section on drawing skills.

One of the best car books i've read! This is a perfect book for anyone with an intrest in cars, car design or becoming a car designer. It is full of tutorials, good examples from actual design professionals and a top 50 designs list that is sure to cause a lot of discussion!

How to design ? Not reallyThis book is not what you expect from. There are only few pages that explain some techniques of drawings or renderings. What remain is a collections of pictures of prototypes and production cars put in well styled pages.
