Very good for absolute beginners
As soon as I opened the book, all the illustrations on the different types of brushes, the paint types, how they work and all the basics were there for me pore over in detail.

I am one of those people who HAVE to know how things work in order to use them happily.

A very thorough and detailed guide, well worth buying.

My only complaint it the 1980's graphic art cover, which dates it, the back cover confirms 1989. So it's getting on a bit now, would be nice to see an updated version.

Generally though I would recommend this book for all beginners.

good insight and techniques for beginners and old hands
A very nicely presented book that will work beginners through the first steps into different types of airbrushes, compressors and paints, and even furniture and studio setups. The book has a very thorough techniques section that covers other tools used in airbrushing, painting surfaces, different types of masks, creative photography, basic drawing techniques, using perspective to effect, and colour theory, this is all before you get to even pick up the airbrush,it is very useful and necessary information to become a good airbrush artist though. The book continues with basic airbrush techniques like ;painting straight and wavy lines (its all good practise),fading techniques, starting to use colour and creating 3d cubes and spheres.A good section follows that highlights the work and techniques of 6 of the best airbrush artists and finishes with some quite hard airbrush projects done step by step by these artists,I have been airbrushing for 8 years now and found this section still held some interesting tips and techniques. All in all an excellent book for beginners and well seasoned airbrush artists
