I have a vague recollection of reading an interview with Thorogood where he stated "Why should I write new songs when all of the best ones have already been written?" No doubt there is someone out there saying that the songs are not as good as the originals; I don't know, I am only familiar with Chuck Berrys original version of It wasn't me, so they were all pretty much new to me in '77/'77/'79, whenever it came out.

br /Thorogood achieves with this and his first album a truly unique guitar sound. He plays genuine rock and roll but without the 'yesteryear' hokey-pokey irritability of much 50's rr. His guitar sound has a real metal on metal sound most especially with his slide playing; I have never heard anyone else quite like it.
This was recently listed as a cult classic in the Independent. Its much better than that , it starts well and keeps going just like the first pint on Saturday night. The songs are all covers , but who cares .

br /This is great noisy unsubtle fun . One of the great albums of all time
i have just seen "walk the line" with joaquim phoenix, which was brilliant and having heard him sing ""cocaine blues", it made me go up the loft and dig out my old "move it on over" album, which i hastily ordered on cd as it brings back so many good memories of the 70's; my favourite track is "it wasnt me", george is my hero, brings back great memories of nights spent in the mid west on holiday, also watched video of original live aid recently when george played with albert collins, rock on!
