Very Romantic Account of Schoenberg
br /I bought this CDs after reading ecstatic reviews on amazon.com on Gould's outstanding account of the piano concerto. Gould plays the concerto with admirable verve and clarity of mind, but I was not so impressed by the so-so sound quality which often makes piano part drowned in orchestra. However, when I listened to the solo piano works and chamber works, I thought my expectation was rewarded. Completely at home in Schoenberg's musical cosmos, Gould gives highly Romantic and intensely charged performance of the works, with his unique insight and keen awareness of vertical relationships of notes, and what a superb chamber music player he was! A MUST for any admiror of the pianaist.
