the best album...ever
I was a moody unhappy teenager sitting in my room, then 'Love of my life' came on the radio and I was overwhelmed. It was the most amazing piece of music I had ever heard and remains my favourite to this day (previously it was Spooky by Classic 4/Atlanta Rhythm Section). By a coincidence I used to go in my local record shop and stare at Gino's album covers, but not buy them because I mistakenly thought someone so stunningly handsome could not possibly be talented as well. How wrong I was. This album is just incredible.

Music For People Who Crave Real Instead Of False Emotion...
Gino Vannelli has been for the most part totally forgotten and for some reason overlooked in The UK, almost completely. Well, not by everyone....pThere are seldom few people who can write and sing music with the type of emotion, conviction and sheer soul, like Gino Vannelli.brFor those who just crave sheer musicianship and quality playing, look no further. However Gino operates on many levels, from tugging at the heart strings to making you gasp, that this level of production and sheer class was available in the 1970's.brThe synthesiser work on this album alone, will have keyboard players wondering, how the hell keyboards, which looked like a BT telehone exchange and had more knobs on them than in an aircraft's cockpit, could be made to produce sounds that by rights, weren't possible until 10 years later.pGist Of The Gemini appeared quietly to a public in 1976 who were more at home with Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees and the early Hi-Hat swishes of Disco.brVannelli was often dismissed as a crooning Italian stallion, with open necked shirt tight trousers and the genuine medalion man look. Vannelli a deeply spiritual man, put raw emotion and soul searching into a new league.pThose that bothered to look a little further, had the key to unlocking one of the greastest song-writing and white-soul singers the world has ever seen.brIf you thought that white soul couldn't get better than Michael Bolton and chums, boy have I got news for you.brGist Of The Gemini was one of a long line of the most incredibly produced and crafted albums of an often desperately poor decade of music that was the 1970's. brI was fortunate enough to stumble upon Gino in the early 90's, long after his most fetile period of writing and singing. However, thank god I found him.brI've never looked back!brDo yourself a favour. Buy this album. Then, sit down with a stiff drink, turn down the lights, unplug the phone, draw the curtains and crank that volume dial up. If the hairs on the back of your neck don't stand up, then I would suggest plugging the phone back in, calling the doctor and getting him to come round, to check if you're still alive!pTell Gino I sent you!
