Into the realm of adult contemporary...
HMV's album of the week this was in 1993 but sadly didn't make much of a dent in the music industry. With RCA promoting him as an AC artist, much of his built-in fans sadly didn't go along with the transition, me included. Not to say that this album is by any means poor. It's just - well its boring. Tracks like The Ones You Love, Hopelessly, Body Soul and Nature's Gift are good but they lack the one thing that would make a non-fan to go out and buy it. When You Love Someone screams B-side quality while Enough Love will make a woman melt away into the realms of love. His vocals in this album is much better than in Free but of course much more mellow if compared to his PWL days. It's an inward album for Rick. With Gary Stevenson back for the production duties and with a little help from the late Rob Fisher and Lisa Stansfield, Rick tries not too hard to produce clear-cut tracks that scream UK Top 10. Do I recommend this album? Well, the fans around the world would have bought the album by now, its the non-fans that makes this deal a hard one to close. With his 5th album scheduled to be released this November, famished Rick fans across the world will once again have a voice to listen to. We all need healing, it's been so long...
