There has never been a better showcase for improvisational rock than this 1971 concert recording, and few (if any) live rock albums are in its rank. With only two studio albums (and plenty of touring) under their belt, the Georgia sextet tore into the Fillmore East with road-tested buoyancy. Titanic guitarist Duane Allman was at the peak of his powers, pushing his foil, Dickey Betts, to unsurpassed peaks. Vocalist-keyboardist Gregg Allman would have been a star in any other setting; here he's merely one more component in a brilliant ensemble. br /This is a must for those who want to catch up on missed oppotunities years ago and for those to young to have been there .Seven great tracks of rock and jazz from truly great guys .A really amazing set I will play many times .

Brilliant!
Beautiful recordings from this masterpiece live session at Fillmore east. br /Duane is something out of this world - and the others aren't far behind. br /I place Duane Allman up there with Peter Green and Hendrix, what a player! br /If you like Rock, Blues/Rock then this is for you, Clapton who??

Completely Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
I got this album about six months ago, liked it immediately and like it even more now. I love every song, although this is not the full version - which I got and think is much better cos it has some extra tracks. I think this is easily one of the best albums i have ever heard, ever! I recommend this to anyone who loves good music!

I would give this more stars if I could. Absolutely brilliant, I honestly don't know what else I can add, the other reviewers have been so comprehensive. Just buy it, even if only to hear the superb guitar work of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts although it is unfair to single out any of the wonderful musicians in the band. Fantastic!!!

The pinnacle of southern rock
Actually this album is more than the pinnacle of southern rock - it could well be the finest album I've ever heard. The Allman Brothers' guitarists Duane Allman and Dickey Betts were two of the finest players ever, and the twin drummers Jamoe and Butch Trucks, amazing bassist Berry Oakley and hugely underrated voice and keyboards of Greg Allman made this band untouchable then and now. I appreciate this is a lot of hyperbole to deal with, but just listen and you will not be disappointed. I play this music often and am still completely in love with it. I'll bet you will be too.
