SuperbWhat can i say? This CD is incredible. I have heard many complaints about this album from people who are put off by the bad production. I have seen some reviews stating that this album is painful to listen to is barely audiable, and it sounds as if there is a chainsaw in the background...I really do not know what all the fuss is about, its certainly not painful to listen to, this album is a masterpiece as is Bergtatt. The light buzzing in the background gives the CD an unique atmosphere, which cannot really be explained. brThere are rumours that Ulver were given some cash in order to produce this album. However they spent most of it on themselves and bought some expensive suits and sunglasses and ended up recording it on an 8-track in the forests of Norway...whether this is true or not i do not know. brThis album has eight hymnes. Each track is a raw sounding blast of black metal. The raw strained vocals from Garm are superbly executed and fit in perfectly with the mood and music of this album. If you are new to Ulver, i would recommend that you listen to their first album, Bergtatt. Their first album shows both sides of this band, with their Norweigan folk influences, and black metal influences all in one. brUlver are superb, certainly one of my favourite bands of all time

furious black metal with a touch of serene folkThe album jumps straight into blastbeat type black metal, fast, with Garms rip-throated vocals straining more than ever (though perfectly executed throughout). quickly the harsh electrics fade away and the acoustic start, keeping pace and softening you up for the next onslaught of emotive desparate metal.brfor existing ulver fans, recommended very likeable, but more forgettable than bergtatt due to the same intros for most songs (a 1,2,3,4 on the hi-hat or some amp-fiddling noise) .brfor non-ulver fans, i recomend bergtatt first as these songs are all rather similar and bergtatt will show ulvers true ability and this may be a bit abrasive. brThis for me is similair to, though more spiteful than "de mysteriis dom sathanas" by Mayhem or "panzar division marduk" by marduk, and makes a good follow-up to the previus two offerings rom norways finest.

The best music I've ever heard!Ulver is simply the coolest music that has been ever made. This CD is very peaceful, indeed, but another one, I don't remember the exact name (Bergtatt or something like that), mixes this peaceful style of music with black metal. A really good blend. The only reason for that i gave it 5 stars is, that 10 wasn't available.
