Look, I'll be honest, I had never heard of this guy until about a week ago... but I thought anyone produced by Ani di Franco might be worth [a listen]. Well, I was paid back in spades. Songs range from theories on evolution, the effects of AIDS cures, eulogies to his favourite female singers, through the racial divide and find time to take in an analysis of the life of Monica Seles.
Maybe I've always been a sucker for Monica Seles,I don't know, but this type of songwriting appeals, showing an appreciation for the sufferings of the rich and famous as well as a concern for global issues. Socialism with a human face? Rightly so...
Go on, have a listen to a kind of Billy Bragg from over the pond.
