Colma <--- amazing
Having first heard of Buckethead in 2000 when he joined Guns N' Roses I was interested in who he was. I got this album along with a few of his other tracks. Wow. The man at times is often just dismissed as a shredder and souless player, a mere by the numbers man if you will. This album puts that silly claim to shame. Buckethead wrote this album at a time when his mom was ill and wanted to construct something she could enjoy.

This is a really mellow album. There is not one song on here that you would skip. This album suits both headphones and being cranked up loud!

Tracks like machete, big sur moon and whitewash really display that buckethead is a great writer not just player.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes guitar music and mellow music. Fans of The cure to even Ben Harper could find interest in this.

This is by far and astonishing piece of work and perhaps one of bucketheads best. Brain also adds some subtle drums to the mix too.

I would also recommend Eletric Tears.

A vital addition to any record collection
I have owned this album for three years now, and it is still my favourite in my collection. Every song is beautiful and combined they create an emotional and thought provoking journey. Combining hip-hop beats with simplistic guitar playing, every second is a joy. As the last track plays out, the effect on the listener can only be described as haunting.

Everybody i have played this album too has loved it, the whole concept and delivery is second to none. In my opinion, you could not name a standout track as they all flow into one another to create a whole album of laidback beauty.
From the delayed melodies of Whitewash to the minimalistic emotion of Watching the boats with my dad there are moments that everybody can relate to.

This album is as much inspiring as it is a moving listening experience, i cannot recommend it highly enough. Buckethead is one amazing musician and everybody should hear this album, buy it now, you wont be dissapointed!

This is a beutiful album
This is Just amazing instrumental acoustic guitar, sometimes solo, sometimes Brains drumming keeps beat or theres the odd atmospheric turntable. Sometimes dark and brooding, sometimes Tranquil and enchanting.
This is Buckethead stripped to his most naked goes through all range of moods, all delivered with shear simplicity.
It's a wonderful compliment to the depths a acoustic guitar still retains at delivering expert songwriting.

It's easy to agree with Bucketheads critics sometimes. The goofy stuff he puts on albums like Welcome to bucketheadland, the overindulgence and obssesions with Chickens, Japanese cinema and Sci-Fi. And the accusations of him having no emotion due to some mindless shred tracks he performs.
This album destroys all those half truths with one swift blow. Here is Buckethead at his most Un-selfindulgent and self restrained, there is not a mention of chickens anywhere. Even the cover is more placid, moving away from his other garish sleeves.

Highlights? well there is no filler, its all equally brilliant. Colma and Ghost (Pt. 2) are both dark, brooding and scary, great with the lights turned off. Watching the Boats With My Dad has a gorgeous melody and he even entices us with some soulful lead on Machete. The live favourite: Big Sur Moon is still always a highlight, it consists of a flutter of notes played with Delay.

With Buckethead you often have to trudge through the mud to get to the gems, a lot of his Electronic stuff simply doesn't appeal to me. This however is tied with Giant Robot as one of my favourite of his release's, both show 2 completely different sides to his talents and both show him at his very best.

Tranquility
This CD is for anyone, all music tastes!!! It is mostly classical, electrical accustic guitar playing combined with the awesome drummer, Brain!!! This is a relaxing, emotional and stirring album!! The cobination of accustic guitar, drums and other effects is amazing.... this is an album which one can listen to all night.... This an ultimate album of Buckethead and is an important shaping to this amazing man's gift to play the guitar!!!

a great pice of acoustic music
Colma is a great acoustic album and surprisingly good for Buckethead whos other albums are mainly funk and art rock and most of the tracks in his albums like 'giant robot' have some stupid vocals put in.

I wasnt sure what to expect when i bought this album because with most guitar instrumentalists thier albums are boring since they dont have any proper vocals on them and every track is just one big guitar solo and only guitarists buy them.
But the songs on Colma are more structured and Buckethead concentrates on acoustic melodies rather than super fast electric
leads.

But Colma is a great album with no filler tracks and has two electric songs (sanctum, machete) to keep some fans happy.
The best songs on the album in my opinion are 'whitewash' 'for mom' and 'watching the boats with my dad'

The only thing that maybe lets this album down is Brains drumming since most of the tracks are just simple drum loops which are the same beat over and over.

overall i give this album 5/5 and anyone who likes acoustic music or just good guitar instrumentals should buy this, you wont be disapointed.
