It's not " Boomland"
If you are expecting anything like T2's 70's work think again.Despite at least four songs having been written in the 70's the sound is completely different.This cd is what I would call bop-rock and I think I must put this solely down to the guitar work which is nothing like that of Keith Cross.The lead breaks are snail paced painfully picking out each note.Gone is the raw power that was T2.The sleeve notes suggest this is because the band has moved on, and I have seen references to the guitar work as "laid back".It's not to my liking but everyone should judge for themselves. br /So why then do you ask do I give it three stars? the reason is that the only original member Pete Dunton can write wonderful songs that go around in you head as soon as the cd leaves the player, best of these are the songs from the 70's and the guitar work can't even spoil them.Some dubious birdwhistles and soundeffect galloping horses are a little embarassing on "The Minstral" but the song is fantastic. br /Sadly the final track"Age to Age" is a disappointment as when I saw it lasted over 20 minutes I thought we might get something like " Morning "from "Boomland" but alas it does seem to just go on for an age. br /T2'S later cd "On the Frontline" is of similar ilk to this one but what is really strange is in between these two cd's is "Waiting for the Band" a part live part studio album with guitarist Ray Lee. This is an incredible album with T2 back to their very best so if you are looking for another "Boomland" or "t2/Fantasy" you'll not be disappointed.
