Amazon.co.uk ReviewFolks tend to speak of populist folk-popsters Hootie the Blowfish in surface terms. The first album, iCracked Rear View/i, they'll tell you, sold 15 million copies. Second disc, tsk, tsk--only a measly couple million--a real failure for this supposed supergroup. And now, for entry three, the pressure's on: Will Hootie reclaim the multi-platinum throne? But the lens is horribly out of focus here. The songs on iMusical Chairs/i--rife with chiming Americana hooks, swimming in the rich, woodsy warble of one of modern rock's most definitive voices, Darius Rucker--are every bit as aesthetically sound, warm, and hometown charming as those that catapulted the band to fame. Who--outside of Atlantic Records bean counters--truly cares how much this one sells? From the opening feel-good affirmation "I Will Wait" through the punky pounder "Wishing" and the Calypso-flavoured "Las Vegas Nights", to the gospel-jangled familial recollections "Home Again" and "One by One", this is one subtly beautiful effort, the kind that creeps up on you with each listening. The more you play it, in fact, the less you worry about how many of your peers have purchased it already. Put the calculator away. Enjoy great music the way it ishould/i be enjoyed--eyes shut and smiling. i--Tom Lanham /i

It's Been Done So Many Times BeforeWhen I bought this album I was expecting big things. I'd heard people rave about this wonderful band. "You've got to buy their album" I was told. I did - and guess what - it failed to inspire. It's not that it's a dull working, it's the fact that the sound is so old and tired. It falls in to a backwash of sounds from hundreds of bands before them. I wanted to like this album, I really did, but I just couldn't. I don't know what their first two albums were like and quite frankly I don't care now. The tired sound of this band shows in their falling record sales - a trend which I suggest may continue until they are a band no more.

The third album, another masterpieceI also was lucky enough to see Hootie live in London as a late birthday present, my dad bought their third album (musical chairs), as I've been listening to it ever since. It is a great album which can be repeated-and-repeated over and over without any less amazement of their work. I'm just waiting for "scattered, smothered and covered" to be released...

A Top Class AlbumThis is a truly amazing album. I stumbled upon Hootie and The Blowfish whilst listening to the radio and I have been hooked ever since. If you are a 'romantic' type then you must listen to 'Only Lonely', 'Home Again' and 'What's going on here' which are 3 of the best tracks. The whole album is superbly put together and powerfully sung and is a must for every connoisseur of good music.

The best album I have ever boughtI heard of Hootie and the Blowfish years ago, listening to an American radio show. They had been in the charts for a ridiculous number of weeks with a song called "Let Her Cry". I loved this song and since then have tried to keep up with their progress. This has been difficult because the British audience don't seem to appreciate them as much as every body else. I was lucky enough to see them perform in Newcastle last year, the concert was called "Musical Chairs" and eventhough I hadn't yet heard thier album with the same title, I can honestly say that this was one of the best nights of my life. I have loved the band for years and to see and hear them sing live was absolutely amazing. I definitely recommend this album, along with all of their others to anyone who has good taste in music!.

A fantastic collection of songs by a fantastic bandHaving only discovered Hootie by accident a year ago, this band is amongst my favourites. This newest album consolidates all that went before. Heart-felt lyrics are expertly sung, leaving you in total euphoria and wanting more. A must-have for any fan.
