Editorial reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Slippery When Wet transformed Bon Jovi from minor league poodle rockers to global superstars, on the back of hit singles "You Give Love A Bad Name", "Never Say Goodbye" and, of course, "Living On A Prayer". It's easy to forget, now that Jon is a film star with a decent haircut and an ever-improving line in blue-collar Springsteen-lite lyrics, quite how silly Bon Jovi were back in the mid-to-late 80s. From the scantily clad carwash girls on the inner sleeve to the "You lost more than that in my back seat. Yeah!" lyrics, the album is blissfully untouched by notions of irony or subtlety. Fortunately, this adds to its charm. With guitarist Richie Sambora and Desmond Child (who has written for and with everyone from Cher to Robbie Williams), Jon Bon Jovi has now produced more than 10 years worth of consistently memorable tunes, and this album contains its fair share of them. Slippery When Wet won't change your world, but it will, undoubtedly, rock it. --Ronita Dutta

Boring Arena Rock
Dont bother with this unless your into your commercial 1980,s boring arena, hair metal rock, its just not real rock n roll. Its just sterile and dreary.

Slippery When Wet --- My Favorite Bon Jovi Album
I love Bon Jovi and own eight of their albums but "Slippery When Wet" is my personal favorite, a classic, a must have album in the rock music field, an essential!! All the songs on this disc are awesome and my favorites include "You Give Love A Bad Name", "Let It Rock", "Livin' On A Prayer" and "Wanted Dead Or Alive", all of which were released as singles at the time and were, huge hits wordwide. Another track on the disc that is a personal favorite of mine is the beautiful, "Never Say Goodbye", a masterpiece and ample proof that Bon Jovi have a nack of writing incrediable songs.
Jon and his band are awesome and their music most defiantly rocks --- I fully recommened this CD - 10/10 raiting from me.
Album Fact --- "Slippery When Wet" comes at no.12 in the 100 best selling albums of the 80s.

Livin' on a Prayer anyone?
This album has some good points but to me most of the songs sounds like generic glam metal from the 80s. Most of the songs are generally happy clappy, sing/shout alongs and generally the kind of stuff you throw your hands into the air for.
For all the weak songs on the album there is obviously one REALLY good song that makes up for it, "Livin on a Prayer" which never gets boring and is such a great party anthem. Other notable songs are You Give Love a Bad Name, Without Love and I'd Die for You, though they're only ok songs. The organ solo on Let It Rock is awesome too but it's not long enough.

I would recommend this album on Livin on a Prayer alone, the other songs however I would only really recommend to glam metal enthusiasts.

one of the great sing a long rock albums
20 years old and still this albums sums up a generation of hairsprayed rock fans and the sing along, lighter in the air, ultimate feel good party album,an album that is simply fun to listen too and with great singing and sing a long until your lungs burst albums.Bon jovi in 86' released this as their third album and world domination was theirs, stadium tours beckoned and a generation of denim wearing, big haired rock fans were born,i was too young for that but the albums greatness wasnt missed on me.
Certainly this is a big album,an album of anthems, maybe in todays climate some of this sounds cheesy, but hey its still a great album,i doubt if the boys took this album too seriously,it is an album that has hasnt left peoples thoughts unlike bands like europe, ratt, extreme and so on,this album will always have a place among the greats.
The album is littered with great songs, let it rock, you give love a bad name, livin on a prayer, wanted dead or alive, raise your hands and id die for you but the rest are great as well. This isnt an album that changed the world by any means but its impact is still undenied, and yes this kind of music is pretty much dead now but if the darkness think they can walk with bon jovi at their peak then think again fools.
