Amazon.co.uk Review
Containing eight remixed tracks from Jackson's 1995 HIStory, as well as five new compositions, Blood On The Dancefloor tastefully mixes old sounds with new. The new songs which open the album are led by the thrash-pop title track, which is reminiscent of many of the creations on Dangerous. "Morphine" is a dark and emotive track, while "Ghosts" and "Is It Scary" are autobiographical accounts of fatherhood and the problems of privacy which followed the birth of his baby. The disco remix of "Stranger In Moscow", meanwhile, is an excellent up-tempo remodelling of the original track. --John Galilee

My favourite Michael Jackson album
This album and the eponymous single shot striaght to number One in the UK chart yet was less successful in the US. Even though this is a strange hybrid of an album - a split between new songs and dance remixes - it's probably one of my favourites, if not THE favourite. It bursts with Michael's anger and vitriol yet his voice is just amazing. The two tracks Ghosts and Is it Scary? are, I believe, the best things he's ever done. The lyrics to the latter are heartfelt.
To me it's on this album that you really get an inkling of how Michael Jackson really feels. It's as if he's not acting a role any more. And check out the powerful remixes of This Time Around, Scream amd 2Bad - they're beter than the originals on HIStory. You Are Not alone is given a bright and breezy treatment while the cries of "We're talking danger, baby!" on Stranger in Moscow, fair belt out on this remix.
Powerful stuff that's also incredibly energising. Pulsating. Recommended.

The most successful remix album ever!
Blood On The Dancefloor - HIStory In The Mix, came nearly 2 years after HIStory - Past, Present & Future Book 1. That's a record for Michael, it usually takes him 4.5 years to release an album. Blood On The Dancefloor begins with the title track, and is a decent & catchy tune, which Michael wrote and produced himself. Also featured on the album are Ghosts, and Is It Scary. Which are featued on his 35 minute short film Ghosts. The remixes are very good. Particularly HIStory - Tony Moran's HIStory lesson. Blood On The Dancefloor, like so much other work Michael made around this era, seemed to have lost public interest, due to his now vastly entertaining and turbulent life. Blood On The Dancefloor sold over 6 million worldwide, it charted at #1 in the U.K, accompanying the #1 single Blood On The Dancefloor. It flopped in America. After this Michael was no longer considered a company priority by Sony. Jackson's career seemed to have slipped after the molestation allegations of 1993, with his 1995 effort HIStory, which sold over 18 million. Which is considered a flop by the standards in which Michael set for the best selling albums ever, as his previous album Dangerous managed to sell 29 million copies. Despite his now declining record sales, Blood On The Dancefloor - HIStory In The Mix has become the best selling remix album ever!

New material & new remixes!
When the album first appeared in 1997, due to unsuccesful marketing, the album caused much confusion for buyers and critics alike. Was it a remix album or an album of new material?
In the USA the album failed to top the charts, a first for Michael Jackson, the UK didnt fail though, it shot straight to number one in the album chart! Critics, as you'd expect, wrote the album off. The poor sales means its one of Michaels lowest selling albums ever!

However, sales do not have any bearing on how good the material is! It contains five new songs and eight remixes of songs taken form disc two of the 1995 release 'HIStory'. The new material was great. It had been some time since michael had written, composed and arranged his own material (much of Dangerous & HIStory was co-written with Teddy Riley and other writers).

As for the remixes, if you liked History disc two, then your sure to like these, many of the original mixes are outdone by these remixes...The 'History' track particularly.
The new material included the great track 'Blood on the dance floor', and check out the video release 'Michael Jacksons Ghosts' (available here at Amazon!) if you like 'is it scary' & 'Ghosts'!

If your a fan of Michaels then you'll probably like this one!

Such a good album
This is def one of michael's best albums! The title track is the best on the album and one of mj's best ever songs. The other new tracks include morphine which is a great and loud song. Superfly sister which is very catchy and sounds similar to prince's party man. Ghosts and is it scary are great songs and both from the short movie ghosts. Then you have the 8 remixes from hisory which are all good especially scream. If your a fan then you should get this right away!

a great remix album (and 5 new tracks)
Tracklisting Includes :

1 Blood On The Dancefloor 4.14
2 Morphine 6.28
3 Superfly Sister 6.27
4 Ghosts 5.13
5 Is It Scary 5.35
6 Scream (With Janet Jackson) (Flyte Tyme Remix) 5.27
7 Money (Fire Island Mix) 4.22
8 2 Bad (Refugee Camp Mix) 3.32
9 Stranger In Moscow (Tee's In House Club Mix) 6.55
10 This Time Around (D.M Radio Mix) 4.05
11 Earth Song (Hani's Club Experience) 7.55
12 You Are Not Alone (Classic Club Mix) 7.37
13 HIStory (Tony Moran's HIStory Lesson) 8.00

OK - some remixes are arguebly better than their originals (eg : Scream, This Time Around, 2 Bad & HIStory) One remix did NOT catch my interest, that is 'Money' (I never really cared for this song originally, anyway) But that's just one song. The rest of the remixes and songs are good. According to newspapers, 'JACKO TO FACE UP TO 70 (!!!!) YEARS IN COURT'.
