I recently came across Open Soul and it's a great album. HC are bang on form and right up to date. So, I thought I'd go back and retrace previously missed albums. I wish I had not bothered with Next Move. It's an album that I will never be play again and even on the first play I was skipping tracks - it was that awful. I have Jazz on order - I hope that's better.
I've got the first two albums. Recently I bought this and "Jazz not jazz".
br /All four albums stand up well. They seem to have moved from jazz influenced pop to pop influenced jazz. Luckily the songs are so good that it doesn't matter really. If you like the first two albums then you should enjoy the other two. Apart from "sonny cried" I love this album.
As i breech a second decade (Scary..!) as a Hue Cry Fan i still can't help but feel that, even though JazzNOTJazz was nothing short of 'Blinding', Pat and Greg's inquisitive leap further up the Jazz-ladder was a Rung in the wrong direction. brThat fact that they execute it perfectly fails to hide the fact they did something else far better.brWith Legends like "Violently", "Neon" and "All True Man", still echoing in my car accoustics, i had rather hoped they would stop at ..NOTJAZZ.brWith the Grapevine awash with filthy rumours that the 'step back' we had been waiting for has been drowned in the bleak waters of shallow finance, I can only pray as you do that the Industry "Fat Cats" take hold of their fleeing senses and fund what has always been True Scottish Genius.
