Outstanding
This album is a godsend. The three greatest pieces of music ever written are on here - Dirt, Rosasolis and Perpetuum Mobile. I still struggle to believe how great they are. It's hard to describe the style of music - modern orchestral maybe, though it's not avant garde. Penguin Café's music is amazingly relaxing, and always de-stresses me instantly. People always go on about certain artists deaths being a waste of talent - none more so than Simon Jeffes. I am just thankful he managed to do so much great work before he passed away. God rest his soul.

A brilliant chill out album
I simply cannot agree with the reviewer that found this music monotonous.I keep rediscovering this album It is varied and melodic. Ultimately this is a chill out album. Some is quite sad. In places It verges on classical music. It is also quite uplifting. This is my first album by this group and it has definitely wetted my appetite. Gave it four stars even though as there seem to be so many highly rated albums that the scoring system has little meaning. But it is fair to say that I keep rediscovering this album. It's worth a listen.

Utterly boring music
This was my first CD of the Penguin Café Orchestra, found when I was searching for the excellent (Irish) "Café Orchestra" - I had never heard of the Penguin guys and thought it might be worth a go. It wasn't. Most of the music is utterly boring, talentless or outright annoying in its unimaginative monotony. The only track worth listening to is #2, Southern Jukebox Music. My first P.C.O. CD will most likely also be my last. Pass!

Easy unforgettable tunes
The Penguin Cafe is known for its whistleable tunes, catchy rhythms and unusual instrumental combinations. Some of their music has been used by the Royal Ballet for Still Life at the Penguin Cafe (much of this music is found on this CD).

Try out the sound bites available under other Penguin Cafe CDs for samples of their style; if you like that you will like this CD too.

This is probably the best introduction to their music, and will probably result in you buying the full set.
