Just returned from a cruise around the Med'. At each sailaway from port the ships Captain would play Conquest of Paradise throughout the ship. Awesome!!

Awesome soundtrack
I still listen to this CD many years after the film is dead and buried. Truly one of the best scores ever. br / br /Just close your eyes and be transported away to distant times and shores. br / br /Beautiful choral work, guitars, and strings all combined by Vangelis, across the tracks, making the entire thing a listening experience instead of a track by track audio reminder of the film. br / br /Buy it and enjoy.

Simply Sublime
This is simply sublime. Each piece has a subtle,evocative richness and some are so good (for example, Pinta, Nina, Santa Maria and The Monastery of La Rabida) that they are amongst the best movie music of the last 30 years. This soundtrack works as a journey in itself and can be enjoyed without reference to the film or to Columbus as a voyage of discovery for the soul. It is undoubtedly the finest Vangelis score since Chariots of Fire.

An excellent soundtrack
The multi-million selling "1492: Conquest of Paradise" is another musical masterpiece from Vangelis. br / br /Christopher Columbus's first voyage from Spain to the Bahamas, Hispaniola and Cuba was a truly significant and momentous event in human history. The film, directed by Ridley Scott and released to mark the 500th anniversary of this journey, is greatly enhanced through this accompanying music. br / br /Every track in this 55 minute CD is quality and there's great variety - for example, the gravitas of the maritime sounding "Conquest of Paradise", the Latin hymns of "Monastery of La Rabida", the Hispanic atmosphere in "Deliverance", the regal air that is created in "City of Isabel", the innocence of the indigenous peoples and the beauty of their existence in "Eternity" and the subsequent ethnic tension and conflict skilfully captured by "Moxica and the Horse". br / br /It's also worth mentioning "Hispaniola". This song is a sonic force of nature that blends Flamenco, latin and tribal elements to create a wonderful sense of destiny and a turning point in history. br / br /It's no surprise that music from this album has been used by others in a diverse number of fields such as sport and politics all over the world. Overall, a must have soundtrack. br /

Great Soundtrack
The soundtrack is a collection of beautiful pieces of music and it is a wonderful listen. Each track tells its own story yet they seamlessly intertwine and seem to be a natural progression . br / br /well worth purchasing
