Past their best? There comes a time in the career of every great group when less is decidedly more and they are better off resting on their laurels and not risking their reputations. Alas, this was advice Queen chose not to heed... which suggests to me that the sad demise of Freddie Mercury may have saved them from further decline. Yes, sacrilege I know but maybe a touch of truth? You decide...
It's not that this collection is abysmal. Worse than that, it's just ordinary, the sort of compilation you damn with faint praise. In the hands of an ordinary combo it would probably be quite acceptable MoR pop/rock, but from Queen it's an inevitable decline from the dizzy heights their finest music. Trouble is, there are few truly memorable melodies here,no Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, Killer Queen or Don't Stop Me Now, and therein lies the problem.
Granted that not everyone will agree, but to me the likes of A Kind of Magic, Under Pressure and Radio Ga Ga sound, well, drab and lifeless. I want to Break Free is probably the best on the album, but even that suffers a senseless anticlimax at the end when it should be rising to even greater heights. Then there are a string of songs, some sameish, some a touch bizarre, a few slow ballads, lots of Brian May's twiddly guitar solos - but you've heard it all before.
Sorry if this makes me unpopular, but admit it - I'm right. :(

Another frustrating compilation........You can't complain about the music on here, but they could have been slightly more adventurous in the track listing. Quality tracks like Scandal, Princes Of The Universe and Las Palabras De Amor are missing, replaced by poor tracks like The Miracle (embarrassing lyrics) and I'm Going Slightly Mad (mmm - poor). Also, they have edited the album version of Who Wants To Live Forever when they could have just used the single version.
Still, with classics like One Vision, Radio Ga Ga, I Want It All and A King Of Magic all on here you can't complain too much.

A great album!Queen rocked to stardom in the 1970s, with Freddie Mercury's (1946-91) silky voice leading. They produced many excellent songs, and were popular worldwide, right up until Freddie Mercury's death from AIDS in 1991. Throughout my youth, I loved Queen's sound, and their many wonderful songs - and now I have them again!
This fantastic album makes a great companion to the Greatest Hits V.1 album. It has some of the well-known Queen hits, like Under Pressure and Radio Ga Ga, but it also has some songs that I was not so familiar with. I must say, some of those songs are now among my most favorite, including Who Wants To Live Forever, A Kind Of Magic and The Miracle.
Overall, I found this to be a great album, and a great addition to my music library. If you are a Queen fan, or just like good rock `n' roll, then you will love this album - just like me!

he best Queen compilationReleased shortly before Freddie's death in 1991, Greatest Hits 2 is a fitting tribute to one of (if not THE) greatest bands of all time. The album covers queen's highlights from the early 80's to the early 90's, and arguably surpasses the first Greatest Hits collection. Whilst none of the tracks here may not match the likes of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or 'We Are The Champions', we are left with a much more consistent compilation.
The album kicks off with 'A Kind Of Magic', a soaring pop hit. The other more mainstream hits include 'Radio Ga Ga' and 'I Want To Break Free,. 'Who Wants To Live Forever' and 'The Show Must Go On' are two of the most moving ballads Queen ever produced.
What sets this compilation apart from the first though, are the harder, rockier songs. Queen's stadium rock songs seemed to rock harder than ever before. This may explain why this album isn't as universally appreciated as the first. 'I Want It All', 'Breakthrough', 'Hammer To Fall' and 'One Vision' still get my adrenaline rushing every time I hear them. And 'The Miracle' and 'Innuendo' proves that Queen still had that 'Bohemian Rhapsody' style in them.
This is an album no Queen fan should be without, even if you are not as familiar with these hits than those of the first collection, please take the risk and get this album - you won't be dissapointed.

Probably the best out of the three greatest hits albums!
It is rare that I like every piece on an album, but in the case of Greatest Hits II, I have to say that I do. As Queen often do, they have included a variety of styles in their performances, and the best examples of this are included on this album: Innuendo - the great epic anthem for Live Aid includes variuos styles that only Queen could piece together! It also features the famous "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, with that unforgettable bass line.
There are many other pieces on the album - some strange; some melancholy and others that make you want sing along as loud as you can! However, no piece on this album will disappoint you if like upbeat rock music.
Get it. Get it now while stocks last...
