ARBOS
I bought this soon after I "found" the works of Arvo Part during the St Albans International Organ Festival - in particular De Profundis.
Some is a little repetitive, but overall it is a stunning collection of his work, truly reflecting his Estonian origins.
Listen on your own and become wrapped in this amazing music.

Stunning
I came across this wonderful selection of Parts work on my journey to discover every corner of his work.
There is quite a mixture of sounds on this CD. Dont be put off by the repetitious and very loud first piece which also returns to scare you again after the wistful Credo-lulling you into a serene daydream.
The De Profundis recording is a good version, quite fast which works, although perhaps as crisp and tailored as the Theatre of voices version-directed by Paul Hillier.
It is preceeded by the organ solo, Pari intervallo which is clearly a similar piece in structure, and perhaps a precursser to De Profundis.
The beautiful solo for alto, the full title escapes me now, is a wonderful recording and composition, with interupting string passages which allude you to the final piece on the Album, the Stabat Mater.
I would say that the CD is worth it for this track alone in fact-a stunning example of professional singing as well as a beautiful and completely original setting of the Stabat mater.
Add this CD to your Part collection or you will miss out. And if you are only just discovering the chap, well! shame on you!
