great down home blues
Just a quick review of this one as I was concerned no one had rated it before. If you want to get into Sonny and Brownie this and Backwater Blues are the place to start. Both CDs are 4.5 stars. The duo work really well on live CDs and I find their studio recordings sound flat and faintly boring compared to the concert ones. Both these CDs were recorded in 1961 and work really well as greatest hits of Sonny and Terry. Sound quality and atmosphere is great on both too. The pair also recorded with a full band and I Couldn't Believe My Eyes is a fantastic (studio recorded) CD recorded in 1969 - again great sound quality and the best band recording I have heard by them.
