The Doberman Files - ever the patsy
'The Con Men' - part of season 1. Other comedians may have used the same idea before, but Phil Silvers set the gold standard: naive soldier (Doberman) falls for glamerous 'dame' in the bar - and gee, two guys turn up and wow, they all went to the same High School; Doberman agrees to play poker with them... Bilko sets out to teach them a painful lesson - I won't say exactly how, but the 'Bilko shuffle' should be banned under the Geneva Convvention on armaments. A Bilko classic, write down to the sting in the tail. Doberman - what a patsy. 'Doberman's sister', season 2.No one wants to escort Doberman's sister for the family day and Bilko sets out with kind intent to make her the most desireable 'date' on the day. He does such a good job, Bilko steps in himself 'dumping' his own date on one of the platoon: Bilko's schemes for personal benefit always unwind and this is no different much to his horror, but his essential human decency comes through in the end. 'The Big Scandal' - season 2. Bilko attempts to hypnotise Sergeant Ritzik - and make him fall in love with colonel Hall's wife - why, because Bilko thinks he can make money. Bilko fails to hypnotise Ritzik, doesn't make any money, but does inadvertently hypnotise Doberman bringing out previously unknown Don Juan depths in Doberman - and there in lies the comedy and Bilko has to save the colonel's marriage.
