Jane Hissey's "Little Bear's Trousers and Other Stories" first delighted my elder daughter at the age of 2, and now my younger daughter, at 4, still wants to watch the video whenever she feels like some comforting bedtime viewing. The videos are faithful to the style of Hissey's books. The short stories format is also useful, as the parent can switch it off after one or two stories if it is past the children's bedtime!br With the old-fashioned narrative style and stilted, puppet-like movements of the soft toys, from the lovable Little Bear, to the patriarchal Old Bear, Bramwell Brown and their friends, Duck, Zebra, Ruff and other cuddly characters, one is transported into a children's world of gentleness and playful games, where every story has a happy ending, and there is generally a strong moral message. The visuals are delightful, with the slow pace a welcome contrast from today's often too fast, tacky cartoons, and the soundtrack is heart-warming for young ones and adults alike.
