Possibly Melanie G doesn't seem completely convincing when she wields her shotgun, but James W is right on top of his role. It's a movie rather reminiscent of "Badlands", which is meant as a a compliment. However, the ending is curiously flat and listless.
When Larry Clark released 'KIDS' he shocked movie go-ers. It was disgusting, filthy, and yet extremely enertaining, enjoyable and watchable. It was quite an experience. His next film 'Another Day In Paradise' ditches the filth and goes straight to entertain. All though, That's not to say it doesn't have a few highly violent scenes, some rude bits and a fair bit of colourful language. The story centers around a petty theif who is taken under the wing of Mel (James Woods) to make it big time. James Woods relishes his role and fills the screen with talent in every one of his scenes. The others are great as well. The acting is nothing short of superb. It is also directed with much attention, and it shows that Larry Clark has really taken the time to decide exactly how each line should be spoken and where each camera angle should be. So, why only 4 stars? Well, in places it does drag...and that is the only fall back. This is a great movie and highly recomended viewing.
