A must for anyone involved in coaching/management
Just received this DVD and once I started watching it I couldn't stop. I am not even a rugby fan, but in terms of team preparation it was a great resource.

If you want to see all the footage from all of the games, this is the wrong DVD for you. However, if you want to know what made the Lions tick behind the scenes this DVD is a must.

Footage from games, training sessions, team meetings, selection meetings, physio rooms, dressing rooms. It has it all.

The Perfect Rugby DVD
This was the first professional Lions tour and it was very much a trail blaser for future tours, partly due to the enormous success of this video. It encapsulates everything that is best about professional rugby union - the passion, the hard sweat, the moments of individual and team genius and of course the banter. It also manages to show the humanity when players were forced withdraw through injury. So much more clinical and physical than the amateur days and even as professional rugby moves on with the likes of Jason Robinson and Iestyn Harris, it will still be the best introduction to rugby for the new fan and an even better coaching manual for the aspiring player.

Postscript six years on: there is still no better rugby DVD

Buy it.
If you own a DVD player then you should have a copy of this.
It is quite simply the best sport DVD I have ever seen.

Highs, lows, pain, pleasure, humour, pathos; it is all here.
From the changing room pre-match with the soundtrack of one of the players vomiting, to the Dodie Weir stuff.
After listening to Jim Telfer I was quite happy to go out and play the Springboks. All of them.
It really is the best.

The single greatest sporting video / DVD ever made
The Lions tour that this covers was amazing to watch. They won, for a start!

But all you ever get to see on the TV is the match footage, and the occasional bland interview with a player or coach.

This, then, is stunning. Full access, behind the scenes footage, the likes of which has never been seen before. From the "comedy" moments - the playercam interviewing a young South African lady in the gym, Richard Hill cramming the best part of a whole birthday cake in his mouth; the management sessions - where the handing out of the test jerseys is a surprisingly moving moment; and the playercam waiting in its hotel room to see whether it has made the test side or not.

One word of warning - don't buy this is you're expecting a lot of actual test match footage, because it simply isn't there. This is more about the people, the work, the bonding, and the sheer glory of being a Lion.

Big hits and Big laughs
"Living with Lions" is the ultimate tale of professional sportsmen at the top of their game. From Ian McGeechan's forensic analysis of the Lions' tactics through to Keith Woods "Lord Chief Justice Fester" this documentary grabs you by the scruff of the neck and makes you feel like the 36th Lion in the party.

Anyone who feels passionate about sport should see this dvd as it encapsulates what sportsmen go through to achieve greatness in their sport. We see what the Lions' went through. The sacrifice of giving up eight weeks of your life to live in a foreign land with the press breathing down your neck. The casualties on tour - Rob Howley, Dodie Weir, Will Greenwood - through to the magical moment when the series was claimed by Jerry Guscotts boot.

For those who prefer pictures to words, this tour is summed up by two scenes. Witness Lawrence Dallaglio in the dressing room huddle, face contorted in a mixture of concentration, passion, effort, motivation and desire. Witness Keith Wood after the first test when the look of ecstasy on his face takes away all the agony and fatigue of 80 minutes putting your body on the line.

Living with Lions is a masterpiece. Anyone who coaches should use Jim Telfers' speeches as the basis for their own motivations as the man is a rock!! Buy it, you're simply missing out if you don't
