Dinosaurs come alive like never before in this costly computer-animated film from Disney. After a breathtaking opening (a dino egg is kidnapped), the film changes style; realistic dinosaurs are given human characteristics and voices. The kidnapped egg grows into an iguanodon named Aladar (voiced by DB Sweeney), who is raised by lemurs (shades of ITarzan/I) on a lush island void of other dinosaurs. When a meteorite destroys their island home in a thrilling sequence, the lemur family and Aladar become part of a dinosaur troop roaming the mainland deserts looking for the lush nesting grounds (shades of the fourth instalment of the ILand Before Time/I series and IFantasia/I). Disney's use of cheeky modern slang (one lemur calls himself "a love monkey") is present, as is its typical capital-punishment narrative logic: anyone against our forward-thinking hero (or even disagreeing with him) ends up dead. Curiously, the meanies, a pair of carnotaurs following the group, are nameless and voiceless. This more realistic approach might have been a bigger wow, as in the BBC's IWalking with Dinosaurs/I, which looked extraordinary with only a fraction of the budget. The complexity and scope of IDinosaur/I's visual scale is impressive, and group shots and a point-of-view angle are stunning. Keeps them glued to their seats
From the moment I pressed play my 4 year old son was glued to his seat he loved it (I have to admit I enjoyed watching it the first time as well!! the other 100 odd times not so much). I would recommend this to anyone who has a dinosaur mad child.

Fantasic!
Got this DVD for my 4yr old son, who absolutley loves it! Wants to watch it over and over again! Definateley would reccomend it to any Dinosaur lovers out there!

Great Family Viewing
My son had seen a trailer for this on another dvd, and kept wanting to see it - so I obliged, and purchased the dvd. I'm not sorry that I did - it's much better than I had expected, and it's a great watch for all the family. My 4 year old got a bit scared the first time we watched it - it's very noisy in places - but was fine after he got into it and used to the characters. I was preparing to be disappointed - but I was pleasantly suprised by this film. It has great effects, a good storyline, some funny jokes.... fo some reason it reminds me of the Disney Tarzan film.

USED!!!
I bought this product as new with another Blue ray disc, both come as used still no satisfaction.Kept getting told to print a return slip off contact centre advisor after telling her on several occasions my printer is not working, so beware if you think what your buying is new! br /Very very disappointed in Amazon, and i dont know why i should have to be out of pocket to send back a used product.

good movie
beautiful movie, based on the theory taht dinosaurs lived even after teh meteorite struck the earth. the decision to combine real life landscape with computer animation fits erally well and i think add to the story
