A marvellous collection of songs from one of the most beautiful voices of the last fifty years. If you are of the age group that enjoyed seeing Nana on her BBC television shows, then this album is a great reminder of the sheer joy of life that she radiated. br /

A brilliant compilation covering a wide variety of music
Nana Mouskouri is a household name - yet a compilation released some 40 years after she began her career is as fresh as ever. This release covers styles from popular to classical and draws on music from various periods of her singing life. It's a really good CD for those who are fairly new to Nana's music, and a must for her fans if only to remind ourselves of the breadth of her performances.

Nana's Come-back Album in Britain
This new compilation, released less than three months ago, has already been awarded a silver disc for over 60,000 copies sold in Britain alone. As this album returned last Sunday to the TOP 100 official British Album Charts, it would come as no surprise if it eventually were to reap a Gold disc. In any case, it is a fitting piece for Nana's return to Britain (she is currently completing a very successful Irish and U.K. tour of 25 dates) after a fairly long absence. This compilation contains 21 of her most beautiful songs, mostly in English, although it also has 3 songs in French (Bizet's "Habanera", Nana's first- rate version of "Plaisir d'amour" and a very jazzy 1965 duet with French composer Michel Legrand, "Quand on s'aime"),one in Spanish ("En Aranjuez con mi amor"), one in Greek (the predictable "Ta Pedia Tou Pirea") and Schubert's "Ave Maria" in Latin, of course. The album spans Nana's European and American career from 1962 to 1999 and displays a stupendously broad variety of styles, from romantic hits ("Only Love", "The White Rose of Athens", "Try to remember") to impecable covers of SimonGarfunkel songs ("Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Scarborough Fair Canticle") to cross-over classical choice- morsels ("Song for Liberty" from Verdi's "Nabucco","Fields of Love", adapted from Offenbach's "Tales of Hoffmann", etc.) to Gospel ("Oh Happy Day") and, last but not least,...a marvellous version of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" recorded by Nana in New York in 1962 under the supervision of Quincy Jones. "Easy listening" is the vaguely condescending label used to describe Nana's songs, but her stupendous eclecticism is anything but spurious or facile, while her classically-trained voice certainly ought to command respect for its unusual depth and flexibility. "At her Very Best" for the past 40 years with 200 million records sold all over the world,... a feat rarely achieved in the world of pop-music!

Some of the very best!!!
This comprehensive 2001 compilation offers some of the very best of Nana Mouskouri's catalog. The title of this album accurately describes most of the tunes and Nana Mouskouri's best makes for some fantastic "easy listening" music. The title of this album "At her very best" should be "Some of the very best" Regardless, it is a must have!!!

another excellent release of Nana's great songs
This is the ideal CD for those who do not have an extensive collection of Nana's older songs. As usual Nana's voice manages to take you out of your world of worries. A great purchase for any collection.
