Slightly disapointing main event cant spoil brilliant event2000 was the year that ECW reached its peak before the Network (TNN) that gave them the chance to become bigger and better than the WWF, cruelly discarded them in favour of their rivals. Which ultimately led to a lack of income and eventually the company going out of business. This event sees ECW at its best, a standard of wrestling that any of the company's rivals could never compete with.
The event has so many highlight, the 6 man tag Kid Kash, Danny Doring and Roadkill vs CW Anderson, Simon Diamond and Swinger is brilliant.
And seeing Jerry Lynn writing 'die' across his chest in Steve Corino's blood during their superb match is a sight to behold.
Rhino and Sandman were locked in a bitter feud that all stemmed from Rhino basically putting Sandman's wife in the hospital. This is a grudge match in every sense of the word and both men play up the story line brilliantly and put on very entertaining match. Sandman is definitely a hardcore legend, and can dish out and take a lot of violent punishment, but his wrestling ability has always been questionable. But Rhino drags the best out of the Sandman and although the match is pretty hardcore, you very rarely see the Sandman do so many wrestling moves. A guard rail is brought into the ring and continually used from the start and both men deserve credit for such creative and entertaining use of it.
Rob Van Dam vs former best friend Scotty Anton (formerly Scotty Riggs in WCW) is a very good match. Anton was never really given a chance in WCW so his ability was an unknown quantity, but after this match you will wonder how his former employers let such a talent go to waste. It is a closely fought match and Anton brings the best out of RVD, and baring the series of matches with Jerry Lynn, this is the best I match I have seen RVD have. But ultimately the match will be remembered for the spectacular debut of the 'Van Terminator' (not to be confused with the often used 'Van Daminator') if you know what this is then you know what an amazing move it is, if you haven't ever seen it, then this video is worth buying for that alone.
The only slight disappointment on this video is the main event a Stairway To Hell Match between Tommy Dreamer and Justin Credible. It has all the signs of a good match but it is far to short, as the match seems to end as it should be just getting going. The barbed wire above the ring is retrieved about 2 minutes before the match ends and is not really used, which seems to make the match gimmick a little bit pointless. Uncharacteristically of ECW it is not real barbed wire (which is probably a relief if you ever saw 'Born to Be Wired'!). After such a brilliant under card, you expect the main event to blow you away and it doesn't. But what has gone before has been so good that you can forgive the standard slipping in the main event.
Overall this is a brilliant video, and is ECW at its finest. Well worth watching, cant recommend it highly enough.

Can U believe it? I've given an ECW event 4 stars!!Yes it's official I've given an ECW pay-per-view 4 stars. Anyone one that has read my reviews, will know that every ECW PPV that I've reviewed is 5 stars. But Heatwave 2000 failed to get my 5 star treatment. The reason is that the main event between Tommy Dreamer and Justin Credible form the ECW World championship in a stairway to hell match. I got really excited when I saw this on the back of the cover because a piece of barb-wire was hung above the ring, and these two had the same sort of match at GAC' 99. But in my view it was only decent, plus the wrong man won.
Rob Van Dam Vs. "The U.S Male" Scotty Anton failed to excite me aswell, the only good thing about this was the debut of the Van Terminator!
Rhino put the TV championship on the line against Sandman in a re-match from Hardcore Heaven. This time they made it lengthy and made it brutal and did give us a pretty good match.
Jerry Lynn and Steve Corino were both impressive again in a great match. It wasn't the BEST performances they've put up, but still one that showed up the main events. (Steve Corino gets really up close and personnel with a fan!).
Nova and Chris Chetti Vs. The baldies was a real showcase of offence ruined by it's sort length.
Kid Kash, Danny Doring and Roadkill Vs. CW Anderson, Swinger and Simon Diamond have a great high flying 6 man tag (Even the 330 pound Roadkill gets aerial!).
Balls Mahoney and Big Sal have an abosolutely pointless opener that lasted 2 minutes.
Thankfully Tajiri, Psicosis, Little Guido and Mikey Whipewreck have a very meaningful 4 way contest that was certently match of the night.
The trouble with this PPV was that the lower card was better than the upper card. If U want something from ECW in the 2000 era, Living Dangerously and Hardcore Heaven would be better choices.

ECW bring a strong performanceOf course, at the time, this was praised as THE BEST ECW show of 2000, and one of the shows of 2000 in itself. Of course, it isn't THAT great, but it is certainly a good show. It starts out very badly, with Balls Mahoney vs. Big Sal in a squash (literally). It then gets good when C.W. ANderson, Swinger & Simon take on Roadkill, Doring & Kash in a fantastic high-flying match. Jerry Lynn then takes on Steve Corino in a very good match, where Steve Corino pulls out an AMAZING bladejob, definetly up there with Muta's as the best ever. It sorta takes a tumble with the next match, as Nova & Chetti take on The Baldies in a five minute showcase, but it is still pretty entertaining. Then of course, in what is MOTN, there's a 4 way dance, with Tajiri/Guido/Whipwreck/Psicosis. A blistering high-flying bout. Great stuff. Next up are the main events. First, Sandman takes on Rhino in a rematch from Hardcore Heaven, which is a HUGE improvement over their earlier bout. Silly ending though, and i don't see the point in a rematch if the same thing is going to happen again. RVD then takes on Scotty Anton, in a very empty and dissapointing match. It was good to see the debut of the VT though, and it was an Okayish, i guess. Next up is the Stairway to Hell title match. The match is dissapointing, and NOT A PATCH on their match at GAC 99', but it's still brutal and another OK bout.
Overall, i would have to say that this is certainly recommended. It is a genuinely exciting show, and a good shwoing from the now dead promotion.

A good PPV let down by the main event. This is the first ECW PPV i've seen so maybe the rating i've given is a bit too high. Anyways, its got some great matches (excluding the Stairway To Hell Match main event which pretty much sucked) with plenty of brutality and quite a bit of blood. Just what I was looking for ;-)
