The test takes up the majority of the film and is certainly the most entertaining and memorable part. The 18 Bronze men had a large budget (for the time) and a strong cast, it is one of those ground breaking movies that not only spawned a sequel but also influenced film makers for years after.
Unfortunately it is let down a bit by its DVD release. The picture quality is quite poor, which impart is due to the picture being enlarged and altered to fit the wide a screen format so you loose a good portion of the screen (which for some bizarre reason seems to be common among kung fu films on dvd's). So in some of the fight scenes you do loose allot of the action (as people are fighting off screen), and this can be frustrating.
All that said though, if you except these "quirks" this is a genre classic that should be in every kung fu film fan's collection and will be the only version available on DVD for a while. Its defiantly worth a look if your into old school kung fu.
