Amazon.co.uk Review
Visions of Ibiza was compiled by Nick Bracegirdle, aka Chicane, the radio-friendly dance producer responsible for "Offshore" and one of 2000s biggest single collaborations, "Don't Give Up" with Bryan Adams. This Ibiza collection isn't the usual round of house-tinged chart toppers. Instead, Bracegirdle has dug deep in his record bag in an attempt to come up with an album that conveys the true spirit of clubland's favourite holiday home. Air's sublime "All I Need" and Aphex Twin's brilliantly twisted "Window Licker" set the tone as stylish and discerning, while including Mansun's indie classic "Wide Open Space" ensures that this alternative to the sound of the super club is as eccentric as it is eclectic. With an excess of ambient grooves from the likes of Orb, William Orbit and Sabres Of Paradise and a defiantly chilled mood in general--Bjork's "Big Time Sensuality" is as close to a hands-in-the-air floor filler as it gets--there will be those who feel Bracegirdle's missed the Ibiza point. Even so, there can be little argument that his very individual vision of the dance island is refreshing and for the mere fact that it all hangs together so well, nothing short of miraculous. --Dan Gennoe

Surprising
When I first got this it was more a speculative purchase - "quick, buy everything by Chicane" - and I was a little underwhelmed.

However, over the years it's really started to grow on me and so is now almost a permanent fixture in my car stereo. The mix of tracks shows that it can't be pigeonholed as chillout, trance, whatever; it's much more than the sum of it's parts. I'd say that the Amazon.co.uk reviewer misses the point of this CD - it's not supposed to make Ibiza afficionadoes say "this is what Ibiza is"; it's Bracegirdle saying "this is what Ibiza is to me".

Cool Ibiza CD
Thought that it was pap on the first listening, but it just grows and grows on you. Eclectic mix of old and new and artists. Has tracks I have not heard for over 10 years! Puts the Ministry and all other "Ibiza" compilations in their place. One for the drive from Ibiza Town to Benirras Beach in time to watch the sunset then back for a long night in Pacha.
