Editorial reviews
Amazon.co.uk ReviewFew artists, especially teenaged ones, make debuts as assured as
Nivea. The self-titled disc from the Atlanta singer is notable for several reasons--she wrote or collaborated on the lion's share of the songs, she attracted guests ranging from rapper Lil Wayne to Atlanta homeboys Jagged Edge and she slips effortlessly between R&B, rap and pop.
"No Doubt" is a cuddly, undeniable ballad flecked with Nivea's sweet phrasings and "Don't Mess with the Radio" is a hooky, finger-wagging strut. Although several tracks--including "Don't Mess with My Man" and "Run Away"--are sassy enough to have been lifted from a Toni Braxton record, there's a playfulness to Nivea's music that's refreshing in a world of Christinas. That Nivea first started singing in church is evident in her elastic delivery--witness the swooning "25 Reasons". She doesn't quite have the range of her hero Mariah Carey but she's got 10 times the swagger and soul. --Kim Hughes

WOW!The simple thing would be to say BUY THIS ALBUM! She is stunning and every song on here is at least a little good. The best tracks are 'Ya Ya Ya', 'Don't Mess With My Man', 'Run Away', 'Never Had A Girl Like Me', 'Don't Mess With The Radio' (sounds silly I know), 'What You Waitin' For', 'Check Your Man', 'Cat's Got Your Tongue', 'Jewelry' & 'Problems'. Thats over half & the other tunes are reeeel kool 2. You got soulful ballads, pure R'n'B & A little pop 2. BUY IT!

Nivea - The next Toni or Whitney?Having looked at the cover of Nivea's album I'll admit that I thought she was just a run of the mill singer wanting to make it in the biz. But listening to samples of some of her songs I was amazed to find amazingly produced songs with some of the best harmonies and the most sensational vocals I have ever heard, and that's no overstatement.
As soon as you hear those upbeat songs with a fast pace to them you'll think that that's all there is to the album but wait until you get further into it and you'll hear some softly sung ballads, pure R&B and guess what, this girl even raps!
With a perfect mix of some of the fast songs such as "Ya Ya Ya" and "Don't Mess With The Radio" along with raps and ballads such as "Run Away" and "25 reasons", you won't want this CD ever to stop. Nivea, with help from Timbaland, R.Kelly and The Neptunes is able to shine on her album and create an individual style which has never been heard before and will never be heard again.
Good luck with the single Nivea! Like you need it!

DON'T MESS WITH THIS LADYI had never even heard of Nivea or her songs. The cover of her album made her look as if she were a modern r'n'b singer, so I gave it a go, and boy was I surprised!
This is the debut from Nivea, and I suppose you can tell that it is - her voice hasn't fully developed yet, but it works well with the tracks, among which Timbaland and the Neptunes have helped to produce. She symbolises the beginning of r+b's new generation - along with Solange, B2K and Lil' Romeo.
So down to the songs. Grammy-nominated 'Don't Mess With My Man' must've gone through an r'n'b masterclass. It has everything you'd want from a female r'n'b artist - smooth vocals, attitude, slick beats and guest male vocals. 'Laundromat' is a song for lazy days, as is '25 reasons', where Nivea gives her 25 reasons why she loves a special someone. 'Never Had A Girl Like Me' is the typical don't mess me around song, as is 'Cat's got your tongue'.
However, like all debuts, this is flawed in some aspects, and that is that sometimes it gets a little tedious. Nivea's voice isn't strong enough to cope with some of the ballads, and it gets bogged down in slow beats too often.
Nevertheless, in general this is great, and I haven't even mentioned the best song yet - 'Don't Mess With The Radio'. This is r'n'b at its undisputed best, overflowing with style, and it wouldn't be out of place in a club. The chorus is infectious, and the style is hip to the extreme.
So, Nivea will be one of the biggest names in r'n'b when her second or third album comes around, and with the likes of The Neptunes and Timbaland backing her. She could very well dethrone Ashanti or Brandy in a couple of years time as the urban princess. It looks like this lady has a glittering career ahead of her if this album is anything to go by.

NiveaThe album features Mystikal and Jagged Edge The Neptunes have produced the Track Runaway and it is hot. It has 15 tracks and one hiden track which is off the hook.
If you liked 'Don't Mess With My Man', 'Runaway', and Don't Mess With The Radio' you will fall in love with the album, it only has a few slow songs the rest are pure fly, off the hook joints.
