An essential purchase for any serious music lover.
the tracks on this LP were recorded at the same sessions as "Exodus", and it shows. It was released eight months later, and apart from "Time Will Tell", there are very few memorable new songs on here. The best tracks are "Sun Is Shining" and "Kaya" itself, both already nearly a decade old and long previously cut with Lee Perry. "Running Away" does capture some of the horror of his assassination attempt in January 1976, but is let down by a weak backing track and a qestionable vocal performance. Bob was a long way from his best here.
This is an excellent album, containing brilliant songs such as Kaya, Easy Skanking etc. It is a very easy listening album and worth the buy. I would also check out his Greatest Hits ablum if I were You!!!
'Kaya' has to be the album that most comprehensively demonstrates Marley's different styles. A small amount of money can give access to his best tracks. I would highly recommend that anyone beginning to explore reggae furnishes themselves with 'Kaya', it is second only to 'Exodus'. I own all Marley's albums, 'Exodus' and 'Kaya' are the best, and are essentials for any fan of reggae music.
