More like 3.5 stars...Comparisons with Enigma, Deep Forest and Delerium at their most chilled are inevitable. There are sweeter melodies and smoother vocals here, making this a very nice background album, and pleasant enough to drive to. There's something of the "bought in a shop in Glastonbury that sells healing crystals and perfumed candles" about it, although definitely at the higher end of that genre. I can't vouch for its staying power, having only owned it two days. It depends, as they say, on what you like. [...] Overall: good, and I'm not disappointed.

A secret I want to keep...From track one, this album has a tremendous effect on the listener. Very few artists have successfully managed to blend electronic music into the international ambient arena. Many people compare Amethystium with Enigma, but I think this is so on a very superficial level. I find Amethystium to be a very unique artist drawing melodies and beats from every corner of the world. Whilst Odonata tends lean towards the mediterranean and Arabian genre of music you can find many songs with Indian overtones as well.pI love music that is capable of fluctuating moods. Usually it takes a whole album with different songs to successfully do this for me. Odonata had the effect with every song tapping into different parts of me every minute of the album. Sounds very trippy but it's true. pThis album is one of those that I would selfishly want no one to hear because I like it so much. Putting my selfish motives aside,I suggest this album to anyone who is capable of hearing. It is clearly unbelievable and it ranks in the top five of my albums (I have over 300 albums of music ranging from Classical to Hard Rock). pIs it worth the money? It's worth more than you're paying for. brIs it good for a party? It's great to chill out with.brIs it good to be alone with? Perfect.brIs it good to have 'company' with? Again...perfect.brIs it good to drive with? Couldn't be better.brIs it good to get inspired with? I bought a flute and started tapping glasses after I heard it. (kidding)brIs it good to study with? Brilliant... actually makes you focus better.pWhat more could you ask for. It's an amazing album that can be heard pretty much anywhere except for hard clubs etc. pHope you found this review useful. Enjoy the music!

Out of this world !I stumbled upon Amethystium purely by accident one day whilst looking for another music title on the internet and just through curiosity listened to some music samples. The album was Odonata and as I went from one track to another I quickly became excited, ok you might say that I was a little mad to get excited over some music samples but if you listened to them you'd know what I mean! I quickly ordered the album and when it arrived a few days later I wasn't at all disappointed. As a fan of Enigma and Deep forest this album has the same feel to it, and after years of searching for a album that has the same high quality material as Enigma MCMXC a.D. I believe I have finally found it in Odonata. It's very unusual to buy a cd these days and love every single track on the album and not having to skip the bad ones to the best.Odonata with its ambient electronic mystifying sounds and what I can only describe as Indian vocals/chants and wooden flutes/pan pipes is the most soothing music I have heard in a long time. Each track follows a similar theme but it's a theme that you will never get bored with, indeed the whole album is purely heaven and you almost feel as if you're in dream land.Whilst the style of the album is similar to Enigma it has a unique voice of its own and I have to admit for me it has that extra something special to it.The only perhaps major problem I have with this album is that I can't stop listening to it! indeed I would say that I have become a Amethystium addict! I have just ordered his second album Aphelion and I know that I will not be at all disappointed judging from track samples. So give this album a go you will be amazed!

Simply the BestI am going to order this album from amazon, however i know that it is good because i have been on the following website which was a huge help to me to preview the CD before i buy it. I am new to Amethystium and yes they are similar to enigma and era, 2 very good artists which i have also purchased. The website which you MUST checkout before buying is:brwww.amethystium.combrTheir official website allows you to listen to every track fully, as long as you have windows media player or realplayer etc... Listen to the tracks for free, and then buy the album, trust me you will love it, especially the fans of current great artists such as enigma, era, sarah mclachlan, delerium etc....
