Amazon.co.uk ReviewKylie Minogue concludes her
On a Night Like This tour with an unashamed pop extravaganza on home ground in Sydney, performing to a huge audience which these days consists of more adults than teenagers. Kylie has undoubtedly matured over the years, too, and--apart from a brief stint believing she could become a "serious" artist--appears perfectly happy in her role as the Princess of Pop. Kylie fulfils different roles for different groups within the audience: for females it's all about adulation--rediscovering her childlike appeal like a long-lost friend; the men are offered a fantasy figure--the camera drawn like a magnet to her derrière for 20 per cent of the concert; and she simultaneously manages to be a gay icon, without becoming overtly camp. The joy of Kylie is that she has become all things to all people, offered up in a perfectly petite package.
It's clear that the years of work as a performer have paid off, her vocals are much stronger now with a real sense of professionalism, and just to prove this she performs two old favourites as serious pieces, "I Should Be So Lucky" is offered as a ballad and "Better the Devil You Know" is transported to Shirley Bassey territory, allowing Kylie to prove her vocal range. In true show-stopping style we're offered a multitude of costume changes: from hot-pant mania to refined suits and rock-chick leather, Kylie inevitably appears looking great; although the same cannot be said for her backing dancers, whose outfits are often laughable, with all the style of a school play costume. Despite the many faces of Kylie on display here, pop stardom does not appear to have changed her girl-next-door image--Kylie remains in our hearts a true "neighbour".
On the DVD: This music disc is like Kylie, perfectly packaged in every way. The menu is beautifully laid out (even though the images offer an excess of cleavage) with a great range of easily accessible options. You can choose simply to play the concert straight in its pristine 16:9 anamorphic screen ratio or you can select your favourite songs from the track selection option; you can visit Kylie backstage or watch the great music video for "Spinning Around". The set-up has a choice of PCM Stereo, Dolby Digital or DTS 5.0 and a wide range of subtitles, along with the option to be pointed backstage at relevant points in the concert to get the full Kylie experience. --Nikki Disney

Kylie at her best! When I initally got this DVD, I thought it'd be OK just another 1 to add to my collection!
My God Kylie Minogue is absolutley spell binding in her flawless performance! She is sexy without wearing anything skimpy, elegant and graceful yet not posh! She is perfect!
She talks to the audience like individuals which is unusual but executed perfectly!
BUY IT!

How it's supposed to beThis concert is simply fabulous! Kylie is amazing, singing live - of course. Presented in 16:9 wide screen, the picture is very good. The sound is good in stereo, the Dolby 5.1 track is better and the DTS track is superb. This is how to put a concert on DVD - others take note. Also included is a neat feature where you can see what is going on back stage at some points during the concert. If you only buy one Kylie concert DVD, get this one, it puts the others (two others available at the time of writing) to shame.

Not that impressive at allI bought this DVD because I'd heard such good things about it and I liked her two most recent CDs. I'm afraid this DVD was very disappointing. For one thing, unfortunately, Kylie doesn't have a very strong voice so this kind of ruins it for me - I found it a bit uncomfortable listening to her singing sometimes; she does appear to struggle quite a bit with her own songs. Also the DVD does not come across as very polished and generally a more amateur package than some of the other concert DVDs I have. If you are a true Kylie fan then you will probably like it because it has quite a few extras but people who just like some of her tunes should just stick to the CDs. She's appears to be a nice person and entertainer but this DVD wouldn't convince me that she's much of a stage performer and it wouldn't encourage me to go to a concert.

Absolutely brilliant!Unfortunately the Australian diva didn't take her tour to Holland, so the video was my only option to see it. But how amazing it was! From camp to racy ("Butterfly" yummie!): Kylie covers all territories with this show. And boy: her voice sounds amazing! Maybe Madonna should watch this one as well?

Fantastic, fun and class all wrapped up in an angel!Just finished watching this DVD - All I can say is she's brilliant, beautiful and sparkling!!! Kylie shakes her groove thing across the stage with class. Her updated, re-stylized songs from her past are great and her new songs even better.
Now if only they'd put Kylie's videos from the past on DVD.
LOVED IT!!!!!
