Amazon.co.uk ReviewIThe Good Times/I is the debut album from Afroman, the first hip-hop-flavoured novelty act of the 21st century. Cross 1970s smut poet Rudy Ray Moore with 90s comedic rappers the Afros, marinate them in malt liquor, and what do you get?--Afroman. The self-proclaimed hungry hustler's unabashed take on American rap from a blaxploitation point of view consists of a laid-back delivery and funky yarns loosely flowing over wah-wah guitar grooves and Hammond organ riffs. It's guaranteed to amuse some listeners and offend many, many more. One glance at IThe Good Times/I' track listing should help you decide into which camp you'll fall. The subject matter of tunes such as "Because I Got High" (also featured on the IJay and Silent Bob Strike Back Soundtrack/I) and "Let's All Get Drunk" is readily apparent. Afroman and crew sound like they're having a great old time laying it down, and at least one song on this album will make you laugh. --IRebecca Levine/I

He May Be Vulgar, But He's Certainly TalentedWhen Afroman first entered onto the worlds stage, he achieved something nobody expected, he reached number 1 in the UK singles charts with a song that basically glorified marijuana smoking. Now in the US that may not seem like a big deal but in the UK it's certainly one of the biggest shock number 1 entries. Now personally I loved the song, it was catchy, fun, and in some ways light hearted. The lyrics may not be the best for our children, but that's actually what makes Afroman more appealing. He doesn't fill his entire album with hateful lyrics and general crapiness, he's someone who doesn't seem to worry about the simple stuff, he just wants to have a good time and if it means getting stoned all the time then so be it.

br /His lyrics are at times utterly vulgar and in other points extremely chauvinistic, but again that's what make him appealing. Easily the best song on the whole album is Crazy Rap as it's simply the most catchy thing you're ever likely to listen to. One of the most surprising things about it is that here in the UK, regardless of the lyrical content, he was allowed a release and although it wasn't as big a success in the charts as his previous winner, it certainly gained a lot of airplay. Afroman gives you the impression that he's a man who just wants to have fun with his music, he isn't one to be taken seriously and that makes me want more of him, which makes me recommend this album.

Afroman's Best Album..."One-Hit-Wonder" Afroman gained popularity back in 2001 with super-hit "Because I Got High" and although many may regard him as a one trick pony "Good Times" is packed with great tracks, funny raps, old school beats and for good measure, some Soul Afro.pAlthough the album weighs in at about 40 minutes playing time I'd say (excluding American Dream which shamelessly takes The Because I Got High Beat for some Afroman Ranting) it is full of quality tracks. Afro has a lyrical talent and displays brilliant comical timing with classic lines such as "We'll be thinking bout surviving/ when we're drinking and we're driving"pAnyone expecting Lil' John style mega beats or in your face 50 Cent generic gangster trash is in the wrong place. Afroman's beats work on a less-is-more basis which works well with his mellow flows, tracks like "Tall Cans" and "Palmdale" (a personal favorite) sound like they've been locked in a vault since the 80's which is not to discredit it, you'll either love it or you'll hate it.pFunny, up-lifting and still to this day his best work, if you are going to buy any Afro Album this is the one...

Great fun!No, it's not musical genius or lyrical mastery, but it gets you bouncing around and occasionally even giggling. You don't need to be into urban music to like this (I'm more of an emotional rock girl!) as it's got a great sound and beat... so why not keep it for a rainy day?

Complete Noise!!!!Well this is without doubt one of the worst albums I have everbrheard! Afroman's voice Is boring, one toned and bland whichbrmakes me want to drop off to sleep. Then there's the music...brI would fall asleep if that wasn't giving me a head ache! brOverall I strongly recommend you to avoid this and go for brsomething decent like D-12 or Bubba Sparxxx.
