Given the pace of Michael Jackson's post-IThriller/I release schedule, it's striking that IOff the Wall/I appeared between two albums--IDestiny/I (1978) and ITriumph/I (1980)--which the twentysomething phenomenon made with his brothers. Aided by richly detailed but not overdone production, IOff the Wall/I defined how much Michael might do. Tracks such as "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough", "Rock with You", "Burn this Disco Out" and the title track not only consolidated his dancefloor power, but showed just how soulful and varied his vocals could get on up-tempo material. Artistic role models such as James Brown and Jackie Wilson echo through the mixes, but these were Jackson's leaps forward. The addition of pure pop confection--Paul McCartney's "Girlfriend", Stevie Wonder's "I Can't Help It"--further fleshed out the star's young-adult persona and helped make IOff the Wall/I among the most fondly remembered of all his solo work. This "special edition" features two magic home demos and entertaining, insightful interviews with producer Quincy Jones and "Rock with You" composer Rod Temperton. I--Rickey Wright/I

best jackson album
This is my all time favourite Michael Jackson album - IMO it is far better than Bad or Thriller, and definetely better than his later stuff. It is how I will remember him, not the tortured soul he was at the end..

What Are You waiting for!
His best - a must have for any pop fan. Michael sadly now gone but this level of musical excellence eclipsed most - he will not be forgotten.

Heaven can't wait
So many memories: my older teenage cousins playing Motown and Jacksons 24-7. . . long summers . . . buying Ben, but too young to see the film, watching The Jackson Five cartoon on Saturday TV. I remember dancing manically in my bedroom to Don't Stop `Til You Get Enough as a teenager and thinking WOW, I can't believe how brilliant this is, this is Michael Jackson, and he's back . . . and how . . . Light and love for all that you gave RIP

Goodnight Sweet Prince
I write this minutes after hearing of Michael Jackson's untimely death. He was a year younger than I. How can he be gone? br / br /Off The Wall was his best album in my humble opinion. Later albums may have outsold it by miles, but this is the business for me. br / br /It marks the beginning of his association with Quincy Jones after they were both involved in 'The Wiz'. br / br /Not much left to say about the music. My fave is the British hit 'She's Out Of My Life' imbued with a new poignancy from this moment on. br / br /The news has ruined me for sleep tonight. I confess I've shed a few tears. Whatever the highs and lows of his life, Michael Jackson has left us a rich legacy of music. This for me is the best of it.

Easily his best
Wow, not a single reviewer rates it less than five stars. br /As good as they may be, later albums sound contrived in comparison. br /It's just fresher more 'alive' than his other stuff. br /If you don't already have this, don't hesitate.
