Editorial reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
"We wanted a tough album," producer Quincy Jones recalls in a bonus interview on this special edition of IBad/I. Though the 1987 blockbuster would appear to be Michael Jackson's most personal statement to date--nine of its 11 cuts were written solely by him--its appeal also rested more on craft than the idiosyncratic art of IThriller/I and IOff the Wall/I. At the same time, most of IBad/I has aged well in spite of its digital brittleness and MIDI treatments of gems such as Jimmy Smith's organ solo on the title track. While the third best of his first three Epic solo discs, IBad/I carries a lot of what people love about Jackson's music. This disc also benefits from two fine outtakes, the exciting, up-tempo "Streetwalker" and the Carpenters homage "Fly Away". Either could easily have extended the record's run of hit singles. I--Rickey Wright/I

Really poor remastering
The special edition version of Bad sucks a lot of the joy out of this LP. I'd really suggest people try to hunt down the earlier release of this LP. Great as many of these songs are, it's just not an enjoyabe experience to listen to this version. The synths now sound cheap and brittle, where as the original had a dirty funk to it. br / br /I've tried to warn you! (The remastering for Off the Wall works much better though, if you want a cheap album from Michael, go for that one).

forever a must in any great album collection. perfect set.
Mickael has died and i see myself getting my hands on any of the albums i still own and it is this one and his last " best of " to date. i had Dangerous as a teen. no longer in my possession, shame... br /BAD is undeniably perfect and had me so excited just listening to it all over again. i remember that Liberian Girl gives me shivers and still does. br /last night we spent the evening watching his videos on MTV and the likes, they all played his videos and that is when you realize that he was absolutely amazing and to think that he wrote the majority of all these classic old tracks is unbelievable. br / i am incredibly sad and as i always listened to Beat it and smooth criminal any time i needed a lift and a beat, i shall make an effort to explore more of his catalogue as he had so much to offer indeed, and he did.. br /Mickael, may you find peace now and your family. i love you. br /florencexxxxxxxxxxxxxxx br /

Shamon!
The only album in history to have 6 number 01 singles, they are in order br /* Bad br /* The Way You Make Me Feel br /* I Just Can't Stop Loving You br /* Dirty Diana br /* Man In The Mirror br /* Smooth Criminal. br / br /The other tracks on the album are all killers too, from funky, slick song 'Just Good Friends' with Stevie Wonder that has all the trademarks of both geniuses at work. br /Speed Demon is a brilliant piece of artistic pop, with a great double bass line that propells the song along. br /Liberian Girl, though not the strongest song on the album, is exotic and has a nice feel to it. br /Leave Me Alone is a funky pop declaration where Michael basically tells the media to 'just stop dogging me around!'. br / br /The bonus tracks are amazing, with 'Streetwalker' a funky, dance beat that is more than similar to The Way You Make Me Feel. I really think it could have been a big hit if it was included on the album. br /Then the spanish version of 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You' which is interesting as you get to hear Jackson sing in a different language. br /Then, 'Fly Away', a nice cool song with a great percussion. It was later covered by Michael's older sister Rebbie Jackson. Michael's vocals on this track are utter perfection. br / br /The sound quality is amazing, better than ever and the entire album sounds just as fresh as it did 20 years ago. br / br /A first rate visit back to the king of pop in his heyday!

I couldn't believe it
Having the word 'BAD' untidly scrawled on the front of your album is clearly a critical marketing error. To add to the screw up I opened the album and the CD had a whole right through the centre. Michael- you plonker!
