Amazon.co.uk Review
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (well five years ago in California to be precise), Lucas Arts developed a first-person shooter (and third person lightsabre) adventure starring mercenary and latent Jedi Kyle Katarn. For Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, Raven Software (responsible for Star Trek Elite Force) has taken over development, but rest assured Kyle is back and this time he's defiantly on the right side of the force.

The action takes place nine years after Jedi Knight, Kyle has forsworn his lightsabre and the Force and with his partner Jan Ors now works for the New Republic. You join him as he is sent to investigate remaining Imperial forces (now called the Remnant) on a remote outpost.

From the outset you really know that this is a sequel, if you played Jedi Knight you will nod sagely at the references to its denouement--the valley of the Jedi--in the opening cut sequence of JK2. There is also no training mission, you are thrown straight into stormtrooper-slaying action (you will initially have to manage with a pitifully poor excuse for a weapon the blaster as Kyle has given up carrying a lightsabre.)

But having said that this is classic shooter action, you run around killing things, solving puzzles and gradually unravelling the plot with the single player campaign is split up into eight missions spanning 24 levels on seven worlds including Nar Shaddaa, Yavin and the Cloud City of Bespin.

The thing that makes JK2 different from other shooters is when you get the lightsabre. This aspect of the game is seriously improved from the original, here you can block, smash boxes and even throw your weapon and watch it return to your hand like a Jedi boomerang. The camera automatically changes to a third-person view whenever you activate the lightsabre, which makes it easier to wield. You also get force powers, initially only pull, push, jump and speed, but later missions see you increase this repertoire to Force Lightning, Force Grip and the Jedi Mind Trick.

This isn't an easy game, even without dodging imperial fire there are loads of puzzles to complete and quite often you will spend ages just trying to work out what to do next which will be frustrating. But the lightsabre animations and the atmosphere is fantastic and the music will make you think you are actually in a Star Wars film, you even get a few chance encounters with Mr Skywalker himself.--Seth Joseph

The best Star Wars game to date
This is, to put it quite simply, the best Star Wars game ever made. Once you get the lightsaber, all of the other weapons seem useless in comparison - which is exactly how a Star Wars game should be. The force abilities that are available are perfectly balanced - they don't make the character seem overpowered, but they still make him a jedi killing machine. The storyline is also excellent, with good voice acting (including Billy Dee Williams).

Ah, the good old days...
I bought this game when it first came out, went straight home and played for hours. Kyle is a funny, sardonic character, and even before he retakes his Jedi mantle, he is a fun character to play. The weapons arsenal is wide-ranging and complex, so even without the lightsaber you can have a good deal of enjoyment in this game. The force powers are great fun, too. With the push power, you can even push missiles flying towards you back at the stormtroopers. But be warned, the dark Jedi can use these powers too! Looking at this page brings back happy memories, so I'm going to buy the 'Best Of' pack which includes this excellent game.

Amazing. Simply amazing.
I got this game for Christmas, and it's extremely fun! The single-player mode is very detailed, with tons of creative puzzles, interesting landscapes, and exciting fighting sequences. The real fun starts when you get the lightsaber, though. After that, you can do cool Jedi moves, deflect fire, and there are a few secret key combonations that do special moves, like crouch+forward+attack on blue=lunge, attack+forward+jump on red=DFA, etc. The force powers are cool, too. The best part about the game is the multiplayer: up to 32 players at a time in a server, and you can run custom maps/models/mods, etc. I have had this game for about a year now, and am expirienced at server hosting, mods, that stuff. This game will keep you entertained for a LONG time, and the multiplayer is endless fun. If you don't have this game, I strongly advise purchasing it.

This game is good but too short.
I am satified. It's fun. Weapon designs are not bad. Sounds and graphics are sound and look too real on my PC. Whenever you are looking at an NPC, you won't even realise it's an NPC!

However, the life expectancy of this game is too short, by my standards! I managed to finnish to game under 2 weeks! Oh please, someone beg the makers of this game to produce another series of a JK game with Kyle Katarn in it. Invent another bad-guy (or gal) is that all it takes.

As for the multiplayer mode, undescribeable. You would have to buy and play this game to find out!

I rate this game 4 stars, because of its entertaining qualities and its short life expectancy. This one's worth buying.

Star Wars jedi Knight 2 jedi outcast
Star Wars jedi knight 2 jedi outcast is the best star wars game ever. The jedi powers are good, Grip and Push are the best. The sabre is the best weapon even though there are about 10 good guns. When you get the sabre the fun really starts.Get the game, you won't be disapointed, and it very good value for money.
