Two-thirds brilliant, one-third mediocre. Almost air-guitar heaven!I have just purchased this version, after buying the cassette back in 1991 when I was at school. Thought I`d see if I still loved it! And the simple truth is yep, Molly Hatchet were great...the additional songs to the old tape I had are "The Creeper", "Satisfied Man" and a song I`ve always hated, "It`s All Over Now". They add nothing to this collection and frankly, they diminish my enjoyment and mean I have to press the skip button more than once. So, my advice is forget those songs, and you won`t be missing much were you to give "Shake The House Down" a miss either; "Ragtop Deluxe" is the better of the "new" songs.
br /This collection is ALL about the early Molly for my money, which quite frankly I think is so damned close to Southern rock heaven. God bless `em, most of Molly Hatchet are there in heaven for real but they left some great tunes, I think I might even say they were better than Skynyrd. I might pick VanZant over Danny Joe Brown but the music is just heavy enough and so vacuum-packed full of solos, that it`s hugely apparent that Molly Hatchet never got the acclaim they warranted, particularly in Europe. Even after a good few years of not listening to these songs, they all came flooding back, the brilliant "Gator Country", the moving "Fall Of The Peacemakers", the drama of "Edge Of Sundown", the visceral power of "Beatin` The Odds" and "Bloody Reunion", the inevitable air-guitar inducing "Boogie No More" and the classic Southern boogie of "Whiskey Man" and "Bounty Hunter".
br /The music hasn`t aged and I strongly recommend this as an essential part of the guitar-driven rock canon.

A great albumAlthough these guys could never maintain a high level throughout each of their albums like skynyrd did, and as such never made a huge comercial impact, they are truly a great band to listen to - their style of music seems to be both fun in places and dark in others. In terms of southern rock, molly hatchet are certainly heavier than people like alman brothers or skynyrd, and actually i think this makes them really interesting.

br /as for the cd, i have no quibbles with the casing, leaftlet thing etc, all is of good quality, and the music itself is great.
br /
br /Highlights for me include Gator Country, Flirtin' with disaster, Bloody Reunion, Boogie no more and the creeper, with 'Gator...' and '...Creeper' being probably my personal favourites.
br /
br /in summary, if you like bluesy southern rock with a bit of an edge, with obvious rock and even metal influences throughout, with air guitar possibilites, then look no further than this - i have only recently been listening to this band yet they seem to have great talent and their music is rocking. Get this cd!!!
