Amazon.co.uk Review
As Brit and her fan base grow older, it's perhaps inevitable that Miss Spears's third album would be one of those difficult "coming of age" affairs. Luckily IBritney/i manages to carefully mix the more "credible", Prince/adult style tunes (thankfully there are only two--"I'm A Slave 4 U" and "Boys")--with the more formulaic pop anthems that have made her great ("Anticipating", "Cinderella", "Bombastic Love" and "Let Me Be"). The pressures of "growing-up" and the adolescent gripe of being taken seriously, seems to a dominant theme which runs right through the album from the, "...I need to make mistakes to know who I am" lyrics on the N'Sync-style "Overprotected", to the appropriately titled, "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman". Perhaps Britney's street-wise maturity explains why there's no power ballad on the album, with the lower songs like "That's Where You Take Me" and "When I Found You" still having a bit of a swing to them. In true Britney album style, "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" is the obligatory rock cover of the Joan Jett classic. Winding the album down, "Before The Goodbye" is a Hi-NRG powered track (in the style of Dana International), which would make an excellent Eurovision entry given the chance. While this album might suggest a slight shift in musical direction for Britney, there's plenty of material on here that will appeal even to the most conservative Spears fans. --IJohn Galilee/I

BRITNEY~The Golden Album
Until CIRCUS arrived this year BRITNEY was my fave album of hers and really defined a decade...but this along with the stunning follow up album In The Zone is her most personal and by far her most acclaimed album of the 6 she has (so far) released. br /the tracks each reflect a personal and pure style that is absent from many albums of late in the music industry. br /BRITNEY is the equivalent of what Madonna did with her Ray Of Light era and Michael Jackson's BAD era...and dare i say it matches and even beats those two albums. br /so far this album has scored sales of over 15 million units worldwide. br /despite it being a personal album it is also a lot of fun with its 'dance' beats and pulasating writing (this is Britney's first 'total' control album)with heavy lyrics which makes each and every minute enjoyable. br /the tracks- br / br /I'm A Slave 4 U-5/5-an excellent lead single that did extremely well worldwide on the charts. br / br /Overprotected-5/5-one of my favourite singles along with the future Toxic,Womanizer and Circus,it is personal but boasts brilliance. br / br /Lonely-4/5-a fantastic beat along with an edge that all of us can actually relate to. br / br /I'm Not A Girl Not Yet A Woman-5/5-a stunning ballad and so far her greatest along with the mesmerising Everytime and Circus' Out From Under/My Baby. br / br /Boys-5/5-much better than the single remix with Pharrel although he has indeed done a brilliant job producing this track, this is a pure Britney song and all the better for it to be this way. br / br /Anticipating-5/5-a nice song with a fine [ace to gather along with the tone of each lyric. br / br /I Love Rock 'n'Roll-5/5-dare i say beats al other versions, due to her own personal input into the song and an edge that made this a defining song in the first place. br / br /Cinderella-5/5-one defintive song on the album with an approach unlike any other song on the album which makes this instantly recognisable and unforgettable, it shows the maturity needed for adulthood and how an iconic image for a younger person to aspire to can be wrecked through personal experiences and on purpose is not a ballad to show the edge you need to have when you face this instant reality,i love it. br / br /Let me Be-5/5-another particularly interesting track which can be identifyable with its pace and beat. br / br /Bomabastic Love-5/5-almost like a sequel to Cinderella with yet another pace that faces a reality experience. br / br /That's Where You Take Me-5/5-well i also love this track as it yet again makes us able to identify with Britney the megastar. br / br /When I Found You-5/5-a lovely slower paced track. br / br /Before The Goodbye-a bonus track that shows a nice pace that reflects what we have in store on future albums (Blackout in particular) it is a nice treat for fans on this album. br / br /What It's Like To Be Me-5/5-a nice duet with ex Justin Timberlake that brings BRITNEY to its end but it more that definately starts off her roller coaster ride with more issues to face... br / br /...BRITNEY is the golden age of Britney Spears career that spanned over two albums, lead to her controversial sing off with Madonna and Aguilera at the MTV awards, her duet with the master of the industry Michael Jackson and a range of iconic music videos. br /Spears really doesn't stop making excellent music and this itself is the album that defines the current century and along with the help of CIRCUS and Blackout boasts her excellent vocal range. br /In The Zone also reflects a darker image by spears which i highly recommend.

Yes, this is her golden best stage so far
If you check my review's date, you can see Britney's new album, the sixth one so far is on sale ("Circus"). br / br /But truly her best stage ever is her first 3 albums, and although I'd choose the second one Oops!... I did it again (2000) -among the 3-, although, followed close by this cd, here it's where she did her best uptempo song (Overprotected) and ballad (I'm not a girl not yet a woman) to date. br / br /This is the most powerful Britney's record, but not less melodic, catchy and it's an authentic gem of Pop br / br /Its first single was I'm a slave 4 u, and it's far away of my favorites off it, -along with the fifth single "Boys"-, though, it's not worse than last first Britney's singles Blackout's "Gimme more" and Circus' "Womanizer". br / br /The second single off this album is her best song ever done: Overprotected, in the top of Max Martin's songs ever produced br / br /The third one is as I said before her best ballad so far: I'm not a girl not yet a woman br / br /and The third one is a Joan Jett's cover: I love rock roll, stand-out track that I won't compare with the original and I will say this time is a Rock song, really different of her Satisfaction's cover in her second album, which was a very different Pop tune than the Rock Roll of the Rolling Stones original song. br / br /Another tracks deserve to be named here are: Lonely, Bombastic love, Anticipating and Cinderella. br / br /As a curiosity the last song of "Britney", "What it's like to be me" is a song where Justin Timberlake featured on vocals and production and lyrics

Britney doing what she does best - Slick, modern, fun pop tunes
Barcode: 0638592225329 br / br /Many tout this - Britney's self titled 3rd album - as her most consistent and they're not far from the truth there. It's slick, glossy RB feel has immense appeal and allows Britney to shine as a performer. Boys is a prime example of this as is the attitude packed 'What It's Like To Be Me'. br / br /My personal fave's from this album though are largely the more 'old-style' Britney tracks. Cinderella and Lonely are effortlessly catchy but truly the star of this album is Overprotected, it is a powerful singalong anthem and with its meaningful lyrics marks it out as possibly my absolute fave Britney track ever. I love it! br / br /The personal feel of the album continues in its highest charting single, 'I'm Not A Girl...'. This song, as with the album as a whole, is without a doubt a pop classic which simply grows and grows on you.

tremendous!
This cd doesn't have as many beautifully sung ballads as Britney's earlier cds but it still amounts to great entertainment with fast paced music, quick fire lyrics, lively beats and Britney's sense of fun and adventure shining through. And there is a big variety of musical styles.Watch the video of some of these songs on the Las Vegas concert dvd and you will really understand how good they are (in particular the performances of "lonely" and " what it's like to be me). When you take Britney's other albums into consideration she has produced the biggest mix and variety of high quality and original songs by one person in a very very long time.I listen to her tracks time after time - they are difficult to get bored of and I should think they will be getting listened to for years to come. Not everyone will like this Britney cd right away but give it a chance because it will sink its teeth into you eventually.
