Amazon.co.uk ReviewGreatest Hits Chapter One carves an unusual career path for those wholesome Backstreet Boys. Although all five members are from the USA, they had their first hit singles, "We've Got It Goin On" and "I'll Never Break Your Heart", in Europe. The story unfolds further as their singles marched with regularity into various Top Tens around the world at the end of the 1990s--as they "broke through" and won a string of prestigious awards.
Chapter One begins with the somewhat childlike "We've Got It Goin On" and continues through all the greats such as "Larger Than Life", "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" and the new song "Drowning". --

Backstreet's back!I have always vaguely liked the Backstreet Boys but have never been a superfan or anything, so I'm not really sure why I asked for this album for Xmas 2001! Anyway, I did, and it's great - there are loads of slushy, easy-listening ballads and there are also a few head-bangin' pop tracks from the guys' earlier days, so this Greatest Hits album will suit a variety of musical tastes.
All of the Backstreet Boys' hits are included here. There have been no songs missed out and there are no extra tracks either; this CD is made up of the best of the guys' work, which is exactly what should make up a Greatest Hits album. It is definitely reflected in their songs that the Backstreet Boys have grown up a lot over their years of releasing hits, not just by improving their singing voices but also experimenting with new sounds and styles of music. You'll see what I mean if you listen to their first UK single, "Get down", which includes a cheesy but cool rappy bit and "whooh whooh whooh"s being sung to fill out the middle eight, then listen to "Larger than life" or "The call", two of their more recent faster songs. They both have better lyrics and don't make you smile at the cheesiness! That's not a critisism though, as all of the tracks on this album are excellent to listen to.
The Backstreet Boys' best songs in my opinion are their ballads; the group have really emotional voices and sound as if they mean what they are singing. My faves include "More than that", "Drowning", "I'll never break your heart", "Shape of my heart" and "All I have to give", during which there is a spine-tingling harmonising bit which involves all five voices layered together. I get shivers when I hear that part, and it only lasts about two seconds! Other great slush mania tracks on this album are "As long as you love me", "I want it that way" (the band's only UK no. 1) and "Anywhere for you".
If you like the Backstreet Boys' singles then you should buy this, as they are all featured here! Even if you are only a small fan, like I was, you will benefit from buying this album. Promise!

the best of the backstreet boysThe ultimate Backstreet Boys album, bringing together all the hits that have become pop classics. It is hard to pick a favourite, because all are pure quality pop, but opener “I want it that way” and the gorgeous “I’ll never break your heart” almost win the title. The sixteen tracks take you on journey of a group who have matured their style without losing their pop sound or their boyband vibe, and of five men with amazing vocal talents. The majority of tracks on this album see the boys demonstrating these voices through slowies like “Drowning”, but there’s also the party classics “Everybody” and “Larger than Life”. If you’ve been a Backstreet Boys fan at any stage of their careers, or simply a fan of good quality, mature pop music, add this CD to your collection.

The Greatest Hits from the Greatest Band in the WorldUnlike other 'boybands' the Backstreet Boys have managed to last a lot longer than their critics had hoped. This collection of songs shows exactly why. They have the talent to diversify, not sticking with just ballads or up-tempo tunes. You can sing along with the anthems 'Everybody' and 'Larger Than Life', or smooch along to the songs 'Show me the Meaning' and 'More Than That' All in all, it's a great collection of hits, and every single song on this CD has been a hit for the boys. An ideal purchase for fans wanting a trip down memory lane or for those who have only just noticed the Backstreet Boys singing talents...
