gathers all the hits from that period, weaving in album tracks and alternative mixes for a slightly padded out "best of". However, for all his recent success, Shaggy will always be synonymous with huge global smashes like "Oh Carolina" and the mighty "Boombastic", here in both its original form and a seductive Sting remix. The Mungo Jerry-sampling "In The Summertime", although probably his most irritating release, is also present and correct, so too the Janet Jackson duet, "Luv Me, Luv Me", produced by legendary desk men, Jam And Lewis. In fact, what strikes you most when listening to these old songs is how good the production actually is. "Sexy Body Girls" with its tough bassline and stolen guitar riff from "Eye Of The Tiger" comes on like a fierce Busta Rhymes, while "Nice and Lovely" pre-empts the current trend for all things swing with a wonderfully jazzy vibe. Boombastic indeed. --
Shaggy's just had one of the best comebacks in any performers career but his old music is also some of the best. Old mixed with new, in this case, works out for the best, especially by leaving out some of the more repetitive songs such as 'it wasn't me'.
