Very similar in design to Sony's previous colour model, the PEG-T625C features the same jog dial button, allowing for easy one-handed navigation around applications. The scroll buttons have been replaced with a tiny rocker switch, which isn't as good as the original buttons. The memory stick slot has been retained allowing for increased expandability. Battery life runs at about 15 days before a re-charge is required. However, this does depend entirely on how much you use the PDA. The stand-out feature has to be the high resolution screen--the images are sharp and detailed, while the text is super-smooth. It makes other PDA displays look positively archaic.
The PEG-T625C has lots of little pluses that make it stand out from the rest. It sits in the cradle nicely and it doesn't make a horrible crunching sound when it's removed--unlike some PDAs. CLIÉ specific applications such as the AV Remote Commander, World Alarm--that allows you to use your own sound files, Sound Utility and CLIÉ Paint are fun to play around with. While those of you wanting to do some serious work will be pleased with Documents to Go and Intellisync Lite. The latest version of the Palm OS includes easier data entry and enhanced security and mobile connectivity.
The PEG-T625C is probably the best Palm OS-based PDA on the market at the moment. With its bright, high-resolution colour screen, superior sound quality and super sleek body, it looks and sounds like the bee's knees. However, the flip-over screen protector does have a tendency to detach from the unit and the re-designed scroll button is completely unusable. But in all, it's the sexiest looking PDA out there and has style written all over it. Worth considering if you want a PDA that is both functional and stylish.--Martin Snelling

A HUGE drawback is the glorious power hungry screen - make no mistake you will need to charge this often ( I need to daily) -so going off on a weeks trip is risky - you have to buy a travel charger.
I am fed up with looking at a black screen when hours away form my PC. My Clie will not last the train journey from London to Eastbourne - reading novels or editing long documents on the train are out of the question. To conserve power you have to put it on mininmum brighntess setting on the backlight. (When you switch off the backlight,it is illegible.)
Ten months on I am getting alot of problems - the unit switches itself on in my pocket, further draining the power and the Sony supplied software almost always crashes.
I am a heavy PDA user so if you are the type who needs daily constant reliable use from a PDA, avoid this. The solid aluminium hardware is not emulated by the crashy software.
If you only use it a few minutes a day at most then this is adequate for your needs. I personally would not buy this product again.
Take the other reviews here with a pinch of emotional-hyped salt and look again at the brilliant latest Pocket PCs on offer.

That was 9 months ago now, and I am still very pleased that I bought the Clié.
The colour screen is still more than pleasant to use and the high resolution on the icons screens just makes it look that bit more refined, as you would expect from Sony. The fact that it is backlit by default was worrying at the start, but it just means that the screen is very clear in all conditions. However, if you turn off that backlight (which you'd only ever do in low battery conditions to get an extra few minutes out of it), I've not found any lighting that makes it possible to use the Clié at all as the contrast is too low and the screen too reflective.
The built in applications are quick to run, use and get used to, and are perfectly good enough for normal use and there is plenty enough memory for most people without the need for a memory stick - unless you're going to be adding things like the mp3 adapter. If you do need/want more than the standard applications, the connectivity to a PC was fantastically easy to install, is fast and works very reliably. That, combined with the phenomenal number of PalmOS applications on the Web, means that updates, applications and toys are really simply installed. And there are lots of physical add-ons you can get. If you are going to splash out and get the mp3 adapter, you'll really need to get a memory stick. They are both fairly expensive, but you are paying for having the one device being multi-functional and pretty good quality. Plus, memory sticks are usable in many Sony products.
The cover that comes with the Clié is a bit annoying in that it does occasionally come unclipped at the back of the unit and is a bit floppy. And I never use the jog dial on the back, but that is probably down to personal preference.
Overall, I still love it. It is a slick machine; very pretty, expandable, easy and fast to use out of the box, very Sony. If you have the need for a little more poke and/or the cover is a priority, you could splash out the extra for the Clié PEG-T675C.

The software included is pretty good, Doc to Go is excellent although excel can be a bit fiddly especially if you have the screen set too small).
I would advise buying either the battery pack charger or the USB charger for it as well if you are travelling or have a laptop/work computer as well as a metal case as the flap supplied is pretty flimsy. The use of a memory stick (32meg or more) to back up to and to put more items on is also a good idea.
The up/down buttons are a waste of time as they are to fiddly but to be honest using the jog shuttle takes no time to get used to and you will never want to give it up once you start to use it , alot of things are compatible with the jog shuttle although some games need the up/down buttons and you find it near impossible to play, unless it allows stylus play.
The hi res is excellent and games / software look good to the eyes, the sound quality I’m not sure of, as I rarely have it on.
Over all this was a good/great buy and I have no real major complaints and would advise anyone to get one or one of the other clie types.

It offers the perfect size and weight for slipping into your pocket combined with a great screen with very good colour rendition. Some very useful buttons and dials allow you to navigate quickly around a range of easy to use, yet powerful applications. In a PDA beauty contest the Clie wins on both beauty and brains.

A "business necessity" that is great for your golf game!
My justification for buying a PDA is that I need it to keep track of what I am doing at work - however the real reason is that I use it with Intelligolf for my golf scoring and statistics (+ I love gadgets).
This is my 3rd machine, with the previous 2 being Pocket PC's, but the Hewlett Packard was virtually unreadable outside, whereas the Cassiopeia developed a fault with the screen.
So with my personal uses in mind I looked around and decided to try the Palm OS.
Once this decision was made all the reviews I read of the Sony Clie and it's fabulous screen made the T625C the obvious choice.
Although I have only had it for 2 days I have to say it was the right decision. It's dead easy to use, the PALM OS is as user-friendly as CE, and the unit looks & feels great - it oozes style. However, above all the screen is absolutely brilliant out on the course on the hottest, sunniest weekend of the year - no squinting, no shading with your hands and trying to get an angle so you can make out the display. Also an added bonus is that (for some technical reason to do with how the screen is laid-up) the screen is extremely responsive and accurate for "tapping".
So my advice is, if you want an excellent business tool that is equally good inside or out, that looks and feels expensive but, at Amazon prices, isn't, then you could do far worse than go for the Sony Clie PEG T625C.
