O'Toole's drunken wisdom
Peter O'Toole is hysterical in this film, and quite easily, is the glue that holds it together (contrary to popular opinion). While this film suffers its share of problems, (such as a few holes in the plot, a little shoddy acting here and there) it makes me laugh as few other movies have. O'Toole's drunken wisdom and fights with his drunken, ghost-talking mother are great. Steve Guttenberg does fine, Daryl Hannah is okay. The Irish country side is lovelyand haunting (incidentally, the movie was filmed in a castle in Limerick,Ireland, where Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes grew up); the set ofthe castle itself is the stuff that fairy tales are made of. The effort that the staff makes to haunt the cynical guests is great, in particular the Lady Godiva/Broggan Banshee fiasco. br / br /While the whole spouse-swapping aspect of the movie is a little hazy, Beverly D'Angelo and Liam Neeson are grand. The entire plot is somewhat goofy, as are some of the transitions to get from Point A to Point B, but it is the humor that keeps it alive. It received terrible reviews, but it's absolutely worth a viewing if you're ever in the mood for something a little absurd that will make you chuckle.

high spirits
this film is hilarious i laughed from start to finish.the casting is brilliant especially Liam Neeson since he is so fit in it it has a brilliant story line and is different to any film i have seen.If you like being scared but find it funny at the same time then this is youre film you must see it

Indescribably funny
To save his castle from becoming an attraction in Malibu, Peter Plunkett (Peter O'Toole) came up with a scheme to turn the castle into castle most haunted in the area. Unknown to him is that the castle is haunted and visitors are really really really going to find out just how haunted it is. And if that is not enough Martin Brogan (Liam Neeson) had warts, his feet stank, and he squished. br /Be sure to purchas the MGM DVD and not the poor quality Video Treasures VHS br / br /

Region 2?
I love this film i first saw it when i was a kid and i laughed from start to finish.brBut why on earth is a movie set in Ireland on Region 1 DVD and not 2?brI've got it on Video but i'd kill to have it on Region 2 DVD. C'mon what's taking you so long!!!brOverall a great film and probably Steve Guttenburgs only good movie, Peter O'Toole is great, Beverly D'Angelo is Hiliarious and the hotel staff are fantastic.brIf you own a multi regional DVD player or you're an American - BUY IT!!!

One of the best movies u can own
Oh my god...where to start?pThis film is brilliant!pI first saw it about 9yrs ago and couldnt stop laughing at Steve Guttenberg and Liam Neeson.pThe story takes place in Ireland in a old Castle Plunkett.pThe owner is bankrupt and comes up with a great plan to rip everyone off with haunting the castle with help from his staff, but the group of Americans come over..give him a run for his money.pOver the next little while, after hysterical attempts of haunting and near death events, the real ghosts take it into they're own hands.pThats all ur getting, if u want to see something funny, romantic and chilling, then this is it.pStars include:pSteve GuttenbergbrPeter O'ToolebrLiam NeesonpTrust me...its worth it and i cant believe its taken MGM this long to make it into DVD!!!
