If you liked the original, then ISpy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams/I is more of the same, with perhaps a touch less heart and a stretch more scale. The Cortez Family are back in action, with dad (Antonio Banderas) annoyed not to get the job as head of his spy organisation, mum (Carla Gugino) stuck with her overbearing and meddling spy parents (Ricardo Montalban is fun as her father) and kids Juni (Daryl Sabara) and Carmen (Alexa Vega) coming second to a new, nastier pair of spy siblings, the Giggles kids. p The story is negligible, with an evil spymaster plotting to use a device that neutralises all electrical gadgets everywhere, and the nice idea of paying homage to those Ray Harryhausen adventures with big hybrid monsters (a spider-legged monkey fights a cobra-headed lizard, sword-wielding skeletons feature in a lost temple scene) is slightly undermined by the use of flat-looking CGI rather than proper model work. But there's a nice bit from Steve Buscemi as a paranoid mad scientist and director-writer-editor Robert Rodriguez, who makes these films between more grown-up action pictures (IDesperado/I, IFrom Dusk Till Dawn/I), can stage a stunt better than most. --IKim Newman/IpBOn the DVD:/B ISpy Kids 2/I is a nicely presented disc with fun menus and informative extras. The most interesting is Rodriguez's "Ten Minute Film School" which offers an easy-to-follow explanation of the digital effects. The director's commentary is also upbeat and full of useful information. As you would expect of an action spectacular such as this, the sound and visual aspects are superb. --INikki Disney/I

Good
This film is great - its funny and everything. I think that it doesnt match up to the first one but the acting is excellent, the setting is really cool, and of course the gadgets are too. If you are debating on buying this then go for it, but expect a little bit of bad acting - especially with the little girl - Gerty. There are huge monsters and Carmen is begginning to grow up and have crushes, its all very good. This film is excellent, but not quite as excellent as the first.

Repeat entertainment for the kids
What can I say, I've bought all three 'Spy Kids' movies and my kids love em all.brAll three films including this one are well put together and completely suitable for any of my kids to watch.brIt's the excitement and engrossment that astounds me with these films. They really capture their imagination and the difference between good and bad. My 6 year old son has watched them all more than 3 times each and he's as excited watching it again as he was the first time.

Great movies for kids
This has been a lot of fun for my six year old and i think we will be forced to watch it time and time again for a while.

How to keep the children (and adults) amused
This is better than the first film and very watchable for all ages. This film has been played again and again since it was received and there are still bits that we are noticing for the first time. A truly exciting and good film for all ages.

Spy Kids 2: Back to Basics
Having entered the world of the Corteze children in Spy Kids where they found out their parents are spys we now meet them again as spys themselves.brThis film has continued to be imaginative with the gadgets that we see and the humour is just as present as the action.brAll of the cast are brilliant, with the children who play Juni and Carmen excelling again.brAlthough the film is slightly soppy it is an all rounder which once again shows that Robert Rodriguez isnt just limited to working on adult films.brThe out-takes at the end were also a nice touch
