This is terrible.Having loved an oblique involvement with the original recording owned by a friend I was so disappointed by this recording. The druggy, spacey quality of the Pink Faries that I recall seems to be completely missing on this version. This is particularly obvious on the lead track "Do it". I hate this remaster/remix. It makes the album sound like some average middle of the road metal/rock album which, to my mind, it never was.

THE Best Rock Album (of 1971)!The initial vinyl LP came out with it's cardboard sleeve covered by a removable plastic cover with part of the album artwork adhourned . . a landmark of it's time and now truly a collector's item, as is the music!
The CD reissue addresses part of the original issue's problem . . .it was just too quiet! Some how the "mix" was way too low.
Now you can crank up the volume and hear "Do It" and "Teenage Rebel" as they were meant to be heard. Add to the mix THE best rock single of all time ("The Snake")and you have an absolute bargain and a cracker to annoy the neighbours.
The albums that followed didn't live up to this 1st album's promise and by the time of the 3rd album ("Kings of Oblivion")the ace Paul Rudolph (who later worked with Eno, Hawkwind (on bass of all things!) and Robert Calvert) had left and had been replaced by the inferior guitar of Larry Wallis.
I had the fortune to see the Wallis' Fairies in Birmingham, Dec '75 but was never lucky enough (or old enough) to catch the original incarnation

Guitar and drum driven rockSo these chaps use to play for free outside the pay to get in festivals. I would rather have rolled one up and just listened and watched this band! They got a contract and on this fab debut, improvised jams that they were use to, became an LP, if you like to hear music free flowing then I recommend this to you. super long guitar jams and no widdly diddly solo`s. It is a dam good album ,there are a few slowies just to let you have a quick breather!then GO,and its back to the biz to think it 1st came out 1971 ish!!A classic time capsule.

Not really a reviewI saw them in the Kings Theatre years ago in glasgow. They were wonderful. Listening to the album now brings back lots of happy memories

Up the PinxThe first and best of the Fairies albums, Never Never Land captured the band at their anarchic best . Those who were there at Phun City and the earliest Glastonbury Festivals will never forget 'Uncle Harry's Last Freak Out' and the absolutely wonderful guitar of Paul Rudolph......
