Amazon.co.uk ReviewAny lingering doubts as to the depth of Eminem's skills, or his potential for raw-yet-compelling honesty, are dispelled on IThe Eminem Show/I's first track. Armed with a quicksilver flow and a thundering rhythm track (the record was exec-produced by long-time mentor/partner Dr Dre, "White America" finds Eminem ferociously mauling the hand that feeds him, lambasting his critics, the industry and the racism that, in many ways, helped make Marshall Mathers more than just another rapper. "Let's do the math," Em sneers, "If I was black I would have sold half….I could be one of your kids/ little Eric looks just like this." pAfter the bombast of IThe Marshall Mathers LP/I and Eminem's well-noted use of sexual epithets, this kind of material is made more controversial because it actually rings true. From a brutal retort to his long-estranged and equally troubled mother ("Cleaning Out My Closets") to a surprisingly tender ode to his child ("Hailie's Song"), Eminem examines his life, loves, arrests, addictions, failures and successes with surprising insight, making this a funk-drenched hip-hop confessional well worth the hype. --IAmy Linden/I

The Eminem PinnacleThis is undoubtedly the best of Eminem's albums - every track stands out on its own, the whole has continuity and there is none of the irritating side of Slim Shady's ludicrousness which turns many people off. What more can I say - I can simply listen to the whole thing non-stop, and if I had to list favourites, I would probably list half the tracks!

br /I was surpised that the Marshall Mathers LP, also a great album, has received more reviews and higher ratings (by half) than this one, when I realised that people often buy a whole album just for one single - nuff said...

Eminem is terrible!I first bought this album in 2003 when I was 13 when I was just getting into music. What a massive mistake! First of all I didn't realise how terribly this guy swears. His lyrics are just appalling. I can't understand why anyone would feel the need to swear as much as he does. As soon as I heard this album the first time I never listened to it over properly ever again. I actually bought this album mainly for Lose yourself which I really liked back then because of the energy, but his record company are such a bunch of cheapskates that they made the fans buy two albums. Lose yourself was actually put on the movie soundtrack album instead of on this album and that is so pathetic.

br /Eminem is the single worst thing that has ever happened to rap music. He is pretty much scum of the earth and everything he does is grave and negative. How he is still around making music these days (if you can call it that) is mind boggling. He spits lyrics that are terribly uninspiring for kids to listen to. He just doesn't care about what he's saying to kids. In fact, this guy is a big influence on the arrogance and ignorance of kids today. Violence is enormous these days and I am certainly sure that this type of music/attitude is a cause for that. The guy is lost; lost in his own disturbing delusion. Anyone who idolises this useless man are people that I pity. Please listen to some meaningful music with lyrics that actually help you in life, instead of listening to very cynical music that makes the world seem like garbage. That is probably why kids see the world that way because it has been painted like this by worthless cynics like this guy, but especially by him.

br /Every single track is just an excuse to put people down; whether it's the press or members of his family. He does it in a disgusting way and a way that most people would find disturbing. Every single song that he has ever done is shocking and plain awful. This is the worst album I have ever listened to properly and I am so aware of music now that this guy seems more terrible than he did back then. Please stay away from Eminem's music. He is the worst rapper/artist out there. He is a hater of the world and the fans he gets are just being driven down into a hole. If you buy this album you are doing the same. Please realise that life is what you believe it is. You can do whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it. Listen to music that inspires you. Music with meaningful lyrics, proper instruments and sensitivity. Music that will help you in life. It is up to you so you can take my advice if you care about your life. If you don't then buy this album and live in regret.

Excellent.Eminem really does show his true self on this album. Every track is good, hardly any tracks you will need to skip except the skits.

br /Genius lyrics, em proves he IS the best. - they make you think, and is true, you will be suprised about the issues he brings up and how close you can relate. Brilliant beats - eminem shows his producer skills here at its highest peak, really suits his flow.
br /Brilliant sequal to MMLP, and one of hiphops greats.

Eminem is the best rapper. This is my first rap record and...Before now I've been a fan of metal and rock and still don't know what an MC is. My favourite band is Marilyn Manson and I was proud never to have had a hip-hop CD in my house but this is amazing. Mabye it's because he's a white rapper? I love the tracks White America, Cleaning Out My Closet, Superman and Sing For The
br /Moment. Also like rappers you see today like this 50 pence s h i t and Snoop Dog he raps about actual important things not just Pimps and Gangsta's and can write a sad song well. Anyone's hip hop collection is not complete without some Eminem. I will definetly be putting his greatest hits album Curtains Close on my Christmas list.

The dog's b's!I'm a bloke in his mid thirties and no great rap fan per se. However...these are angry times and this album is cathartic relief for anyone with red blood in his veins. I loved the freshness of 'Marshall Mathers'. My favourite on that album was 'Drug Ballad'. As other reviewers have also said though, this is much more mature, both in style and content. The rapping is also, in places, more intense. Most intense of all, for me, is my favourite: 'Soldier'. Eminem's masterfully executed rhythmic lines are crystal clear and packed with meaning on this album. Undoubtedly a classic.
