Shot in 1966 by American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax, this DVD features 14 perfomances by such blues greats as Son House, Skip James and Howlin' Wolf among others. The film was shot at the Newport Folk Blues Festival 1966 but it doesn't contain actual concert footage. Instead, Lomax recreated a Delta juke joint, stocked with an ample supply of liquor, and let nature take its course.pThe video quality is excellent (the picture is black and white of course) and the sound quality (in mono obviously) is very satisfactory. Considering this film is almost 40 years old this an excellent release and a must have for any serious blues collector.
