Splatterific!
First of all, For anyone who dosen't know who Andreas SChnaas is let me just clarify. Andreas Schnaas is a notorious German director who is responsible for some of the goriest low budget movies ever made, Zombie Doom is no exception. The third and final installment in Schnaas's infamous Violent S**t trilogy Zombie Doom is quite possibly one of the most excessivley gory films ever made. The story (Not one of the films strong points) follows three men who become stranded on a remote Island which happens to be inhabited by the sadistic Karl the Butcher and his son Karl Jr. (From the previous VS films). The two madmen have set up a militia camp where they are training like minded psychopaths in order to create their own army with the aid of a mad scientist called Dr. Senius who looks remarkabley like Hitler. The three main characters soon find themselves captured by Karls soldiers and have to witness all kinds of atrocities before eventually escaping and teaming up with three ninjas who are plotting to bring down Karl the Butchers reign of terror over the Island. brZombie Doom is a highly entertaining film, at least if you enjoy this kind of thing anyway, if you don't then I would recommend you stay well away. The films low budget really shows through throughout the film but if your already a fan of Schnaas's films like I was then I'm sure you'll be used to this. One of the film's strong points is definatley the special effects, for a low budget film a lot of the effects are carried out extremley well, even the ones that aern't are still enjoyable to watch just because of the abundance of blood and entrails used, things which there just aern't enough of in modern horror. Some of the death scenes in this film are truly imaginative brilliance, for example, after returning to Karl as a failure one of his unlucky soldiers get's his skeleton ripped out of his rear end with a large meathook, theres also decapitations, eviscerations and pretty much any means of killing you can think of, Zombie Doom is a true Splatter movie and one which any splatter fan should definatley check out.brNow, for the films lesser points. First of all, the dubbing. Zombie Doom features possibly the worst dubbing ever recorded, the people who recorded it must have been having a laugh because some of the voices are ridiculous. The dialogue dosen't help either, the film is full of lines like 'Sometimes we puke at each other, we puke in our faces full of s**t which makes us puke even more' Maybe it's not a direct quote but it's pretty close. A lot of the time the film can't be taken seriously because the dialogue is so hilariously funny. Don't be put off by this though because you'll be missing out on a great Splatter movie. brAs for the DVD features, their pretty satisfying. There's another feature length movie by Andreas Schnaas called Zombie 90: Extreme Pestillance (If you think the dubbing's bad in Zombie Doom then watch this movie, you haven't seen anything yet)and three trailer vaults for Seduction Cinema. Overall, a very rewarding bundle.
